"‘In fact, what’s really surprising is that higher AI literacy brings more overconfidence...We would expect people who are AI literate to not only be a bit better at interacting with AI systems, but also at judging their performance with those systems – but this was not the case.’"
AI use makes us overestimate our cognitive performance
A study led by Aalto University reveals that when it comes to AI, specifically, LLMs, the Dunning-Kruger Effect doesn’t hold. All users show a significant inability to assess their performance a...

Got to love the attempts at pedantry to prevent the real conversation. Like, "We'd rather you call him a child sex predator or child sex trafficker" doesn't have a better ring to it you freaks.

I'm curious what journalists / writers I'm following like @lorak.bsky.social @taylorlorenz.bsky.social @molly.wiki or @ednights.bsky.social think a viable solution going forward wold be for journalism as a profession and an industry? Clearly, we have been failed to a large degree.

Gosh, it sure seems like there's a simple explanation for why the NYT has always been absolute trash. At this point, what excuses remain for keeping a subscription? They've been on the wrong side of everything in history.

Ok, reading about three-cueing explains SO MUCH about low reading comprehension. I'm not smart enough to know how we learn to read, but guessing feels like it's extra wrong.
ever since I learned about three-cueing I've developed infinitely more patience for replies on social media. mfers literally do not know how to read. people are walking around conjuring random meanings into words they don't know, and they don't know a lot of words. it's crazy

As an NH constituent, what I say to her is I'll be happy when you lose the primary for selling the people of NH out. As a side note, Shaheen is the reason NH had some of the worst, most expensive insurance costs for decades. Coincidence, I'm sure.
Shaheen: "When I talk to my constituents in New Hampshire, you know what they say to me? They say, 'Why can't you all just work together to address the problems that are facing this country?'"

Being really impressed by the community remaining nonviolent isn't praiseworthy. Local PD and federal agents are ratcheting up violence regardless of what the community does. Either we have a constitution or we don't, and it's clear SCOTUS and ICE believe we don't.
Bovino went into popular Carniceria Aguascalientes in heart of Little Village.
“They said they were just here to buy something,” said Elizabeth Gutierrez. “I told them we wouldn’t serve them and escorted them out. Bovino seemed upset, but I don’t care.” www.chicagotribune.com/2025/11/08/c...

A thousand times, this. Recognizing the humanity in other people should be the default, and taking a second to care about them is easy, kind, and sometimes fun. We all like receiving it, so why not give kindness too?
Being nice to people is just fun. Asked young server at taco place how her day was going (fine but tired) and she asked me back. I said I managed to finish my to-do list and she unexpectedly gave me a high five! Treating people like people is always rewarding.

“Meta internally projected late last year that it would earn about 10% of its overall annual revenue – or $16 billion – from running advertising for scams and banned goods, internal company documents show.🚨🚨🚨
Meta's fraud problem: The social media giant projected 10% of its 2024 revenue would come from ads for scams and banned goods, documents seen by @Reuters show reut.rs/4qJTpdH

I feel like rewriting working code is the exact place you'd expect to introduce new bugs. Memory safety in a tool that isn't suffering the problems that the new language addresses doesn't feel like an improvement.
