Remembering how Asheville city hall teargassed anti-racist marches with children — repeatedly — in 2020, and arrested our journalists for covering their crackdown on a homeless camp on christmas night 2020, and thinking about all the steps that got us here. All the warning signs ignored by too many.

This morning, federal agents staged at the Powderhorn Park Recreation Center lot and began to throw chemical irritants at observers. They also kidnapped an observer. Our parks are meant for our children, youth, and neighbors. They should never be militarized zones meant to separate families. 1/

ICE’s job is immigration enforcement so why is it using facial recognition to surveil U.S. citizens?

For all the discussion of doxxing federal agents, there’s essentially no discussion of how those agents are taking steps that attach severe punitive measures that stretch across wide swaths of the federal bureaucracy against people acting lawfully.

No vote tonight on the funding deal because — and I am not making this up — Lindsey Graham was insisting on undoing this so he can personally enrich himself to the tune of millions in taxpayer dollars
Unanimous vote in the House to repeal provision letting Senators sue the US over the Jan 6 probe and get millions of dollars

Genuinely endearing how much the two chambers hate each other. A true Legolas/Gimli meme for House members against their true enemy, the Senate

The reason Anne Frank's story has resonated with so many people over so many years is not because circumstances have to be exactly the same as her's for anyone to care, but because anything remotely like it is wrong, and societies moving in that direction should oppose it well before they get there.

🚨BREAKING: Minnesota state attorneys alleged in a court hearing that Donald Trump and the Department of Justice are attempting to force the state to surrender its sovereignty — in particular, its control over elections — through the massive federal immigration operation in the Twin Cities region.
Minnesota lawyers argue Trump’s ICE invasion is ‘extorting’ state for voter rolls demands
“It’s a shakedown letter,” one attorney said of Attorney General Bondi's list of demands to the state.

Much has been made in the last couple of days about internal DHS instructions to enter private residences, even if there were no warrant to allow it.

Now we learn federal agents are refusing to honor warrants issued to Minneapolis law enforcement.

What’s the remedy here? The penalty?
Despite having warrant, BCA denied access to scene where federal agents shot, killed man in south Minneapolis

Just a reminder that ICE claimed Marimar Martinez brandished a weapon too.

Then they shot her five times.

She survived, and body cam footage showed they lied.

They’re lying about Alex Pretti too.

He was witnessing. He was trying to help a woman.

They killed him for it.
