Since there’s no chance this district goes red, the real race is going to be the Democratic primary.

“Lets have masked gunmen with no badges or name tags grab women and children and throw them into unmarked vans. What could possibly go wrong?”
This really hasn’t gotten enough attention this week.

I lived in Prince William County for several years. It was Republican back then. Harris carried it by 18 last year; Spanberger just won it by 34. This is an absolute bloodbath tonight.

Been waiting all year for this swell to arrive. Waxing my board to 🏄‍♂️ the 🔵🌊 when it crashes ashore this evening. Hoping there’s no red tide to kill the vibes.
Early turnout reports and anecdote suggest high turnout in Northern Virginia

Not super surprising given voters usually show up here

But we’ll see if voters in red rural counties are able to keep up

Government shutdown not talked about much, but might be factor here

Trump literally just endorsed Cuomo over Sliwa, his fellow Republican. That should tell you everything you need to know.
Mamdani scares Trump, and that’s as good enough a reason as any to vote for him.
Congratulations, Andrew Cuomo!

I know how hard you worked for this.

That sure didn’t take long. Her lead over Platner is 5 points, but “[w]hen voters are informed of the scandal, Mills’ lead balloons to 30 percentage points.”

If the Dem wins by 40ish, that’d be in line with what’s happened in special elections elsewhere.
If it’s significantly less than that, then maybe some kind of a Kirk effect?
It is special election night in Minnesota. Specifically, it's in #HD34B in the Brooklyn Park area.

This Harris+26 seat became open when Democratic State Rep Melissa Hortman was assassinated back in June. It should be an easy Democratic win, though one heavily tinged with grief.

Win!! They chose to go kicking and screaming, but we got it. Go redraw the maps, bitches. www.fox13now.com/news/politic...

Friend: “We’ll be full fasc by then.”
Me: “Okay, Doomer.”

I almost feel like why bother... nothing is ever gonna change with these people.

I feel like the Nates have run out of excuses as to why we “shouldn’t read much into this.”
Final results in the South Carolina #HD50 (Harris+5) special election:

Keishan Scott (D)- 70.6%
William Oden (R)- 29.4%

A 36-point overperformance from 2024 in a majority-Black district that's been trending away from the Dems in recent years.

i keep thinking about how after the debate the NYT had every single story on its webpage be about Biden's age. The press can make an issue stick if they want
I feel like “President of the United States suggests he would deport American citizens to prisons in El Salvador” should be fairly big news
REPORTER: You mentioned you're open to deporting individuals that aren't foreign aliens but aren't criminal to El Salvador. Does that include US citizens?

TRUMP: If they are criminals and hit people with baseball bats, if they rape 87 year old women, yeah. Yeah. That includes them. I'm all for it.

We don’t know if this ends like the Holocaust, but does that even matter? Something unjust is happening, and your choice to speak out against injustice — even if it only stops at one person — says everything about you. Do you believe human rights apply to all humans?
First they came for the innocent man deported to a Salvadoran gulag on an “administrative error” they falsely claim they’re powerless to reverse, flouting court orders even from the Supreme Court — and I spoke out, because I know how the damn poem ends.

I think people also need a reminder that the GOP’s drubbing in the 2018 midterms came despite a roaring economy. If Trump is unpopular AND the economy sucks…

Fascism is here.

The list of words Trump is banning from government is the most stunning document of our time. Click the image below to see how many words Trump and Musk have canceled as part of their new Reich.

After Covid, I don’t have the mental energy to argue with antivaxxers on why they need to protect themselves and their children, let alone try to explain what herd immunity is.
I think natural consequences, however tragic, are the only way forward here, and I have to force myself not to care.

This is our very best chance to make the House even more difficult for the GOP. I'm donating a few dollars to Blake today. Who will join me?
