Whew.....pinning this one.

AMEN!!!! This literally nails the challenge when it comes to the voting public.
i think Americans genuinely don't know what they want on immigration and it is very easy to get them to dislike both any change in policy and also the status quo.
Yea, I'd put this in the category of the ground is shifting....
pretty wild statement re: Republican Chris Madel drop from race for MN governor:

"Saying he cannot support the national GOP's 'stated retribution on citizens of our state, nor can I count myself a member of a party that would do so."

Some of the replies to this are fucking insane.

I beg of people to understand how any of this works.

It’s just not a reality that the government is just going to be shutdown forever.

The best Dems can do will look something like this. Prepare yourself for that now if you haven’t already.
NEWS from inside the Senate Dem meeting tonight:
1-Schumer has the votes to block the DHS funding bill
2-They're going to ask for real investigations into the murders (including an end to impeding the state/local investigations), an end to masks and arrest quotas.

Honestly after some of Puka’s antics this year, I’ll own that I laughed at that ending lol

👏👏👏 louder for the cheap seats!
Election doomers should really be required to work a primary election as a precinct election worker so they understand how elections in this country actually work. Attending a canvassing board meeting would be good too.

“The National Anthem coming up after the break”

Lmao I think I’ll pass on that. Read the fucking room. Ain’t nothing to be proud or celebrating in this moment.

*Chef’s kiss*
The plan is the midterms

This website doesn't want to grapple with that reality because they're going to be in denial over the consequences of the 2024 election until like the middle of this century
What's the plan, Chuck? I run a fake news website. You're the Senate Minority Leader. What's the plan?

Honestly the biggest win for me out of this is one less member of Congress and their age that y'all are screaming about.

(Real tea though, she's too old and I'm glad she's apparently retiring)
Eleanor Holmes Norton’s campaign has filed a termination report with the FEC, NOTUS reports. Norton has not yet announced that she'll retire as Washington, D.C.'s delegate to Congress.

Norton, 88, has faced extensive scrutiny over her physical and mental health.
D.C. Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton Files to 'Terminate' Reelection Campaign
Norton’s campaign raised just $2,520 during the last three months of 2025. Her campaign hasn’t yet announced a formal decision on her future.

Yea this is something to watch….
👀

GOP Homeland Security Chair Andrew Garbarino calls for an oversight hearing into ICE.

Further evidence that Republicans see this situation slipping away for them?

This picture is probably the most patriotic thing I’ve seen in years.

Kudos to the Minneapolis Star Tribune for capturing this veteran tonight in Minneapolis!

We are with you Minnesota! ✊
Minnesotans are showing the soul of the United States to the world.

Posts like this prove the point that there are a lot of people on here who should just seek therapy more and post less.

Mostly just people shitting on Schumer and Dems when they do something good.

Seek help.
January 25, 2026 at 12:02 AM
Not the most important thing in this moment but I’ve been thinking about this over the past few weeks.

Obviously I think Gov and the two Senate races would be safe. I’d be curious though what happens at the House and state legislative level.

Minnesota has the chance to be ground zero for the GOP.

Wow…yea if Tim freakin Pool is disagreeing with them, they are FUCKKKEDDDD on this one.
January 24, 2026 at 11:25 PM
This short thread from @edino.bsky.social is really worth your time.

If you're expecting the government to be shutdown until the midterms, you are setting yourself up for failure & disappointment.

Hope that Dems can get SOMETHING. But abolishing ICE won't be it.

That's our current reality.
I think it’s a good thing that CCM and Rosen are ripping the funding deal and that dems appear ready to force a shutdown, but people need to understand that they aren’t going to be able to keep it shutdown for 12 months and eventually it will reopen on broadly republican terms bc Rs are the majority
January 24, 2026 at 10:37 PM
I just gotta say, Gretchen Whitmer is easily in my top 5 most disappointing politicians in a long, long time.

In THIS moment, what in the hell is this word salad?! From her interactions with Trump at the beginning of this term to this, she clearly does not get it.

Just such a waste of talent!
January 24, 2026 at 10:17 PM
I have ripped on the NYTimes for years now, and for good reason.

And I'll give them their flowers here.

This headline is a big deal. This is their top headline story online.
January 24, 2026 at 9:51 PM
Yea, if Cortez Masto and Rosen are No's, we're headed to a shutdown.

Good....
January 24, 2026 at 9:30 PM
Yea, this tells me that Pete doesn't have the juice....

Expecting that Republicans are going to do something in just unserious. Fuck them.
January 24, 2026 at 9:12 PM
One of the ideas I've seen floated that I think is a good one?

Send some Dem politicians to Minneapolis. I don't care if it Alex Pretti's vigil, one of Tim Walz press conferences, or a press conference to highlight what Dems will do about ICE when we take back power.

Would send a great message!
January 24, 2026 at 8:45 PM
I cannot stress how much I agree with David here.

Outlets like the NYT flatout saying "that's not what happened" is a very, very big deal.

More of this please!
Sometimes it takes a bit for national (or really, any) media to catch up with a story but now the New York Times is noting the video did not show Alex Pretti brandishing a gun as ICE has claimed. www.nytimes.com/live/2026/01...
January 24, 2026 at 8:12 PM
Very good.

If I'm the Timberwolves owner, they don't play again until ICE leaves Minneapolis
