Anthony Edwards was vocal about what he was going to work on this offseason.

His mid-range.

I dove into how becoming more of a three-level scorer can advance his game, why the usage is very important, and the further nuances involved below.
How Much Can We Trust Ant's Mid-Range Game? - Zone Coverage
The NBA is an ever-evolving game. Players, coaches, and teams will be left behind if they cannot keep up with the league's trends or push the boundaries.

The Timberwolves have flipped their identity through 11 GP, shifting from a defensive-minded squad to now the NBA’s third-best offensive rating.

I detailed the All-NBA level play from Randle and Edwards, and Jaden McDaniels’ continued rise below.
The Timberwolves' Efficient Offense Is Forcing A Change In Team Identity - Zone Coverage
When the Minnesota Timberwolves traded for Rudy Gobert in the 2022 offseason, the team's identity naturally shifted toward defense. And Minnesota's

The Jaden McDaniels to Rudy Gobert connection continues to flash. Underrated over the past couple of seasons.

What impressed me most on this one was McDaniels' quick read, and him making an accurate pass from an awkward spot.

Still, a very fluid motion with the gather.

This was a nice counter connection between Rob Dillingham and Rudy Gobert.

Double pindowns for McDaniels and Edwards. Nurkic dips out to slow down Edwards, so Gobert slips to the rim. Dillingham finds him.

Neither shot fell, but I thought the space creation from Jaden McDaniels on these two shot attempts was intriguing.

Domantas Sabonis shot 3/14 from the field last night when Rudy Gobert was on the court.

Per NBA tracking data, Sabonis was 3/11 when directly guarded by Gobert.

According to Cleaning the Glass, the Wolves are now 3rd in the NBA in ORTG at a mark of 122.6, garbage time filtered.

Chris Finch on Joan Beringer

"He's a quick learner. He goes after everything, he's aggressive. I've used the word fearless with him before. He's still extremely raw, but he has feel, which is like an interesting combination for young player. With Bigs, you don't often see that."

Garbage time Beringer is good stuff

Sarge is on a tear to begin the season.

Good contest from Rudy Gobert in space against Jalen Brunson.

But another example of the Knicks bringing in Gobert to the screening action with him on Josh Hart this time.

Good idea to shade Gobert off Hart, but the Knicks countered well.

Quite the closeout from Naz Reid on Josh Hart
November 6, 2025 at 8:57 PM
Another Knicks Spain look.

Rudy Gobert plays at the level this time, holds his own, but when Mikal Bridges releases, so does Anthony Edwards.

Allowing Mitchell Robinson to get the easy dunk.
November 6, 2025 at 8:52 PM
Karl-Anthony Towns OREB and finish.

Julius Randle lets him crash with no resistance.
November 6, 2025 at 8:48 PM
The backside help can cause Julius Randle real problems with his mid-post touches.

Great recognition to get rid of it here, but also to blindly fire to the corner.
November 6, 2025 at 8:36 PM
Very poor defense on this Knicks Spain ATO.

Jaden McDaniels gets completely sealed off by the Mitchell Robinson ball screen.

Rudy Gobert is paying too much attention to the Clarkson flare as he gets rubbed. He returns to Robinson.

Mike Conley likely has to step up here.
November 6, 2025 at 8:31 PM
This was just a brutal effort.

Donte DiVincenzo with some ill-advised full-court pressure.

Deuce McBride beats him, then there is no resistance outside of Rob Dillingham coming off his corner matchup to try to stop the ball.

Naz Reid, Anthony Edwards, Julius Randle stand and watch.
November 6, 2025 at 8:11 PM
Albeit, a perfect bounce to OG Anunoby.

Although more ball watching from Naz Reid leads to another OREB, and another, before he finally cleans it up.
November 6, 2025 at 8:07 PM
Great set design by the Knicks. Using Karl-Anthony Towns elbow extended with a pair of outlets.

Although the quarter-second hesitation between Donte DiVincenzo and Rob Dillingham makes this Mikal Bridges cut wide-open.

Rob's speed can't catch up, and he lacks length.

Julius Randle watches.
November 6, 2025 at 8:00 PM
The Wolves decided to put Rudy Gobert on OG Anunoby and Naz Reid on Karl-Anthony Towns in this lineup.

The Knicks shortly countered by using flat spacing across the baseline, and an OG Anunoby ball screen for Deuce McBride.

Leads to a catch, gather, and shoot, straight-on 3PM.
