Stop using generative AI. There is no legitimate use of generative AI. There is no “I hate AI but this is ok”. Not everyone is using it. We do not have to “get used to it or be left behind.” Just don’t. Just stop. Delete the app. Close your account. Save some money. Take the first step.

Heads up: If you have an Adobe account, for Acrobat or Photoshop or whatever: they've turned on the "we will pillage your work for AI" setting. Go to Adobe account website on desktop -> Account and Security -> Data and Privacy Settings -> Content Analysis. Turn it off.

On her first day in the facility, Becky asked for a scrap of paper and a pen, and began to draw the inmates on the table next to her. She was immediately inundated with portrait requests. A Mexican woman called Lopez, who had a photo of her children stored on one of the iPads, told Becky she would buy her some paper and colouring pencils from the commissary if Becky drew her kids. She soon became the dorm’s unofficial artist-in-residence, with women huddling around the dirty mirrors to make themselves look presentable before they sat for her. They would decorate their cells with Becky’s drawings, or send them to their families. Lopez declared herself Becky’s manager. “She kept saying, ‘Becky, you need to ask for stuff in exchange. Ask for popcorn.’ And I’d be like, ‘Lopez, I don’t need anything.’ I thought, I’m here briefly, you’re stuck here a long time. Stabbing through the heart are three medical instruments; they're style is old but they appear clean and white and more spiritual and emotional than literal. Depicted is a bullet remover, a drill, and a pair of needle forceps with a straight sewing needle. These three instruments represent the symbolism of the three of swords.

Really interesting article, this part stuck out particularly well to me:
“For some reason, they are able to process any inversion of empirical reality, but are acutely sensitive to being laughed at. Calling them weird absolutely works, and telling them their sole artistic output looks like shit also works. Laughing at people who treat AI art as in any way legitimate works. Talking about AI’s environmental impact or its implications for the workforce will not work - they like that, it makes them feel dangerous. Instead of talking about taking money from artists, talk about how it makes them look cheap. If hurting and offending people is part of the point, then we can take that fun away from them by refusing to express hurt or offence, even if we feel it.”

Oh, Hitler was ranting about the trans folk too. The first big Nazi book bonfire in May 1933 was famously the library and archives of a groundbreaking trans clinic, the Institut für Sexualwissenschaft.

Destroying all evidence of trans people and trans rights was one of the Nazis' first priorities.
