I’m a queer Bermudian / Canadian living in the Seattle area, as a perpetually busy small biz owner. I’m interested in supporting creative people, growing too many plants, and avoiding burnout. She/Her/Hers

Hi folks! My name is Andrea Demonakos, and I’m the owner of White Squirrel, a small business devoted to supporting artists via fulfillment services and management of their online stores. 📦

My Bluesky vibe is a mix of enthusiastic yelling, sharing art, and photos of my garden and hobbies. 💕

Some might not be old enough to remember, but Surya Bonaly did a backflip in her 1998 Olympic performance. I watched her, and I also remember the backlash. When a black woman does something revolutionary, it's an illegal move. Now it's suddenly extraordinary.

From Deductions to Gold: The Backflip That Figure Skating Finally Decided to Celebrate
Surya Bonaly was penalized for the backflip that inspired my skating dreams. Decades later, Ilia Malinin is celebrated for the same move — and that contrast is hard to ignore.

Found an additional graphic that gets even more of these quotes together.

I've kept "I hate myself, I hate clover, and I hate bees" pinned above my desk since I first started studying evolutionary biology as an undergraduate. So relatable to get extremely frustrated with your study system.

You know, it’s probably a good thing that my partner is picky about pets…
If left to my own devices I’d have adopted at least a dozen dogs since I started volunteering at our local shelter eight months ago. 😅

Well holy fucking shit. Ring cancelled their partnership with Flock. Keep pressure on them to stop volunteering their feeds to state, local, and federal agencies, though, because that part's still going.

Small biz online seller friends!
My normal supplier for poster tubes is out of stock (poor timing for us), so I’m wondering if anyone has alternate sources they can recommend? Looking for west coast-based non-Uline options if possible. 😅

it feels like every day there is something that would normally be a massive scandal except there are so many that almost everyone is just ground to dust mentally trying to either understand what to do next, calling representatives, or go back to sending and answering emails that feel pointless
