I came to Minneapolis to report on what's going on, and one of the main questions I showed up with is "just what is the scale of the resistance?" After all, we're all used to the news calling Portland a "war zone" or whatever when it's just some protests in one part of town.

the only reason why this has been held at bay in the UK was because for like ten seconds y'all had an opposition leader that cared about making life better for working people and now that's over so

it's like this--the american tea party movement took cues from UKIP. the american right realized that trump could win when brexit went through. the american right lept on the anti-trans bandwagon when they saw how well it went in the UK. like most american things, this is your export.

I've reached my lifetime quota for "interesting times." Give me bland times. Boring times. Normie times, one could even say. Times that are both dull and unexciting. Load me up with times that feel stale and uninspiring. That's the good stuff right there.

The one thing authoritarian leaders usually have going for them is the general apathy of the majority when they make a move solely against a marginal group in society.

But when they occupy an entire city with clumsy, brutal force, that just forces everyone out of that apathy.
This dude is intense and correct

dude the citizens of LA, Chicago and New York kicked ICE out--we are not helpless in this equation
I mean, if they just ignore the results is it very different than not having an election?

But I don't think it takes a lot of imagination to envision ways they could send the brownshirts in to fuck up voting locations in large enough numbers that it would be totally illegitimate.

The amount of ICE agents slipping on actual ice is out of control lmao. They really sent motherfuckers into Minnesota in the middle of winter who don't know how to run in snow let alone on ice. It's having an effect that makes people less afraid, like someone straight up jumps on this ICE loser lmao

Having seen several abductions up close, it is really hard to convey how much the thing they’re doing is roaming in military convoys until they see someone who is alone and isn’t white, and then jumping out in large numbers, pulling them into a van, and screeching off, all in 90 seconds or so.
"“They specifically asked me if I knew where the Hmong families lived on my street & in the neighborhood.” Lugert-Thom responded, “I don’t know anything about that” & she said they then asked, “Well, what about the Asian families?”"

"“I was a bit shaken & a bit shocked of what I was asked to do.”"
