there are so many fun tricks you can play on the reader with a first-person narrator, such as:

1st person haters make me tired, but 1st person is also difficult to write and I think a lot of people don't consider some invisible understandings when it comes to writing in 1st

my most unpopular opinion is probably that “if it’s good enough, spoilers won‘t ruin it for you anyway” is actually kinda mid & basic intellectualism, based on a trite model of narrative meaning as "content" to be decoded & appreciated cerebrally rather than *import* to be experienced dynamically
agreed and I also think anti-spoiler backlash has far exceeded its banks in general! “if it’s good enough, spoilers won‘t ruin it for you anyway” NO I want to experience the story at the intended pace and construct my own relationship with the narrative!!!
Back-cover-of-the-book text shouldn’t be allowed to spoil anything that happens in the second half of the book. Authors worked hard to put that stuff in that order!
