I really want to know the full story behind this epic hack, and yet I also hope it is never solved.
It's my favorite day! It's the 38th anniversary of the Max Headroom signal broadcast intrusion!

1st incident lasted 25s during the 9PM news on WGN-TV in Chicago; The 2nd, 2hrs later, lasted ~90s on PBS affiliate WTTW during Dr. Who.

You can watch it here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=oqge...

The was rolled back shortly after many of these reports came out. Though, for #osint, this would be great -- funny how a small addition adds a bit too many info about users and their locations.
X rolled out a new feature overnight showing where accounts are based. This network of “Trump-supporting independent women” that claimed to be “real Americans” are based in Thailand.

The photos were stolen from European models & posts pushed pro-Trump lines while targeting Islam and LGBTQ people.

I am sorry we have to read this
when I was young, i used to wonder how people like this would fare in life, as they didn't seem suited for gainful employment. it turns out, the internet allowed them to accumulate a massive audience of similar idiots, enriching them and turning them into a presidential advisor

I've never been prouder of @2600.com and speaking at @hope.net than now. 2600 has apparently been told HOPE can't return to St. John's University - allegedly because some attendees last year were ""too anti-police.""

Censorship won't stop the signal - especially not 2600 Hz

Wow. HOPE (Hackers On Planet Earth), one of the most important hacker cons in the world, has been booted from their venue due to a right-wing extremist complaining about a single attendee's written pamphlet that was deemed to "espouse an anti-police agenda".

That's... really screwed up.

Another institute of higher learning caves to backlash against anything folks perceive as "woke." Based on a single report about one attendee's table with brochures critical of the police. St. John's is a private Catholic university that offers Criminal Justice and Homeland Security training.

I spent two years in litigation hell. Trial was worse.

Thirty years of courtroom experience made me cocky, but the court fixed that.

This is the first and only time I talk about this case, as this is the case that made me think of quitting DFIR.

40 years ago we’d have congressional hearings falsely accusing metal bands of putting backwards messages in their songs that told kids to kill themselves & now we have a planet-killing chatbot that’s all like “bet you won’t commit suicide chickenshit bitch” & the government is like here’s $5 billion

Yeah so they’re cutting flights at the 40 busiest airports starting with 4% on Friday and ramping up to 10% through the weekend, and that includes ATL. If you’re attending #KubeCon and you aren’t threat modeling around this and making contingency plans already, strongly recommend starting now
So, uh, KubeCon attendees: how we feeling about the threat model of them shutting down the airspace? Are we all moving to Atlanta

This one here is a goodie! A customer called us because they had several incidents where the system time "magically" jumped days, sometimes even months, back and forth (see screenshot). You can imagine the issues inflicted by this behavior. So the question was.. Cyber? Attacker? Misconfiguration?

I don't think people get what this is saying. There is no way on Earth you can direct connect a FIBER line directly to a copper line. Yes, you can connect into converters, routers, and other gear. This is not a "direct" connection! /rantoff

It's crazy to think someone doing a "show" for the VP of the US messed up, but also, why was it done that way? Even if "normal", it seems crazy to know that protests would be going on and to do a live fire that could happen over them. Gov. shut the road down so only the VP's own detail eq got hit. 🪦
Ok, I figured out what happened. Will make this a thread but TL;DR is some one on the gunline put the wrong time on a time fuze which made the shell function early.

I mean ... could be both?
Guessing that the timing of this @asavage.bsky.social video about how inflatable costumes are made has more to do with Halloween than the protests that are utilizing them, but fascinating either way: www.youtube.com/watch?v=fuds...
