Today I visited the concentration camp (Thereseinstadt) where my ggrandfather was imprisoned. It's something I fairly consciously avoided doing in the 12 years I lived in Europe. It was, as you may imagine, a fairly emotionally charged thing for me.

The entire Disney universe is just a gaslighting of Goofy. Your best friend buys someone who looks just like you and has them run around naked in the backyard? And you just continue on at the function like everything is okay?

more confirmation that lurking clearly behind this idea of the “heritage american” is a straightforward contempt for the actual history and tradition of this country, such that vermeule has to hallucinate a framework to justify his desire to jettison the clear meaning of the 14th amendment
I had missed this latest delirium by Adrian Vermeule on birthright citizenship

'Common law?! NAH, it's the Roman law of adoption that should govern the interpretation of the 14th Amendment of the US Constitution!'

Sinatra hated racists and would have punched Miller in the mouth.

Or as Phil Hartman's impression of Sinatra put it, "I got chunks of guys like you in my stool."
Imagine watching Sinatra, son of Dolly & Antonini born in Genoa & Sicily, respectively, and Martin, son of Gaetano & Angela, born in Montesilvano, Italy & Ohio respectively, (Angela to parents born in Monasterolo, Italy), and crusading against the value of children of immigrants to the U.S.

One good thing about me is that my brain works and I don't fall for Orwellian, propaganda nonsense like this.

The Israelis are breaking the ceasefire and NBC News is actively running interference to support the Israeli government (as are most other American corporate media outlets).

This administration lied about the people it sent to an overseas torture prison. It lies about the people it’s deporting. It lies every day to gain political advantage. Not a chance in hell they won’t lie about huge swaths of people they suspect might vote for the other party.

This agglomeration which was called & which still calls itself the liberal international order was neither liberal nor international nor (much of) an order. And yet, we are learning it is the worst form of international order, except for all those other forms that have been tried from time to time.
People have not fully realized what a world without any meaningful international law, however imperfect, would look like.
