Just a random human. No longer on Twitter, anyone using this handle over there is not me.

I've made this mistake, but sadly it was the only way last year to opt out of their terms of service update. Just note that I am not on Twitter at all, anyone there using this handle is not me.
I just wanted to give a heads up to folks who came here and plan to kill off their accounts on Twitter. I SUGGEST YOU JUST LOCK IT. Don't delete your account. You're at a high risk of having your account title stolen and being impersonated.
Good night, and good luck

Seems like Crunchyroll is really going for using AI so I think I will be looking for an alternative way to watch anime and I encourage fellow Crunchyroll subscribers to do the same unless they reverse these decisions.
At least two people have brought up Zeta Gundam's dub on Crunchyroll having used AI closed captions for a while.
I've been rewatching Zeta Gundam dubbed on my phone for a while on the CR app (the PS5 app doesn't seem to offer closed captions). Tried to capture with my laptop camera here.

Line is "Haman, what's keeping you? The AEUG fleet has encircled Gryps II." Been like this for some time.

Please for the love of god call your reps and tell them to vote no to KOSA and other bad internet bills otherwise we lose everything we have
You need to do it now, today is the day
Congress is attempting to fast track KOSA and more than a dozen bills that would restrict internet access, censor speech and increase surveillance under the guise of protecting children.

Committee hearings begin tomorrow.
Lawmakers to consider 19 bills for childproofing the internet
KOSA is back, along with more than a dozen other bills that will erode free speech and privacy in the name of protecting kids.

I've always bristled at the animosity between artists and 'the suits', as I know so many smart suits. But the AI hype is driving home a legitimate issue; that many bean-counters have no taste or creative awareness whatsoever, resent artists, and need to be vigorously fought against to protect art.

When anyone complains about America/UK/Canada, for any reason, Right Wingers are quick to tell them:

"If you don't like it, just leave!"

Today, Right Wingers keep complaining about blue cities, immigration, diversity, culture...

Why don't they listen the their own advice and "just leave!"

Yes, flood CR's feedback line too with requests to

- stop using AI to closed caption dubs

- keep their current subtitling software (Aegisub. Not the one they are switching to)

Please!
Good job, guys. See if you can't make similar results happen for No Game, No Life and Vinland Saga.

Getting close to time to start asking for the same kind of fervor for AI generated closed captions as well. You can fight this, it CAN work.

It's hard to overstate the impact Taylor had as an AIDS fundraiser. $100 million is an estimate that doesn't include nine-figure bequests to AIDS charities.
there’s a scene in the new documentary where Elizabeth Taylor is talking about the stigma of AIDS and how she got involved in the movement and it’s fucking everything

Amazon has seemingly removed the Banana Fish AI dub, likely in response to the vocal outcry

It should be noted that they can remove this AI dub, or all of their AI dubs

But they can’t remove the fact that they chose to try to do it in the first place.
The only thing less human than these AI dub performances is the decision to sign off on them

A company this big can pay human actors a decent wage, not produce slop that intentionally removes the human element.

Ginny Di makes an excellent underrepresented point here in that the secondary damage caused by AI is that so many artists have to defend our own work as organic now. I had to put out a statement that BLACK PHONE 2 contained no AI because assholes decided to accuse us of using it and no other reason.
I love paying human artists and I hate gen AI 🩵

I'm not here to fight about whether or not AI is ethical (I've made my decision and I doubt I'm gonna change yours.) I'm just here to talk about what I and many other artists have been dealing with as we adjust to a new media landscape.

But that woman has had six decades and countless second chances to sort herself out. She ain't changing.
She's not my mom; she's banned from my life and staying there.
Just a quiet, sad little PSA.

If someone is estranged from their parents, please please don’t give them the ‘but they’re your mum/ dad’

They were their mum / dad when they did the worst imaginable things to their own kids.

It’s not up to the children to make it ok. It’s up to them to live well.

Wrecking young people's reading, writing & analytical skills during their formative years is an economic imperative for AI companies. For many of us who learned these things without AI, slop can't pass for news or entertainment. Destroying standards is essential to the industry's growth & survival.
