Honestly I find most of the discourse about VA in Metroid kinda annoying. 3 Has VA and technically Dread has some too. It seems like a big majority of the game is still just Samus, and the nerd is only there for the tutorial.

I think Nintendo should lean all the way in on Samus getting quipped to the whole game. The nerd guy should die but the alien planet absorbs him and all the mushrooms on the planet should talk to you in his voice. They should ask Samus about her weekend plans. Make it a complete introvert nightmare.

I dig through social media a little less than I did a few years ago since I notice most people who feel compelled to have a take on every headline media/otherwise become more miserable.
It's more chill on bsky, but also you get gems like "Not wanting to play bad games is a gamergate mindset"
