For @nationalobserver.com, I spoke with U of T’s Laura Tozer.
Last year, she was adding climate policies to her lecture slides. This year, she’s deleting them, and asking Prime Minister Mark Carney to explain the rollbacks directly to her students.
This University of Toronto Professor wants Carney to answer to her students
Each year, University of Toronto professor Laura Tozer updates a slide deck that she presents to her graduate students on the state of climate policy in Canada. This year, she is deleting everything.

I will never forget having to edit Jamal’s final, posthumous piece for the Washington Post, after he was murdered.

He was calling for free expression in the Arab world. You can read it here :

Opinion | Jamal Khashoggi: What the Arab world needs most is free expression
The Arab world needs a modern version of the old transnational media so citizens can be informed about global events.

I think you could replace "democrats" with "governing Liberal Party of Canada" in this message and it would convey perfectly how I feel most times I get challenged on my criticism of Mr. Carney's Liberals.
I trash democrats when they fuck up and praise them when they do a good job. I think people should try that instead of clapping like a seal no matter what they do.
Wow. It must be serious. You actually said something good about a Democrat instead of trashing and smearing us.

Trump's tariffs are hurting us in two ways:

First, the obvious: Higher costs → either lower profits or higher prices.

Second, more subtle (perhaps bigger): We’ve signaled we’re an unreliable partner, so allies are reorganizing supply chains to avoid us. That's hard to unwind.

Each of these episodes demonstrates Canada's compliance and invite further unreasonable demands.

It also validates the outrageous position that this administration can regulate even the speech of other governments.

If you are a service member or civil servant ordered to perform an operation in spite of concerns you raised about their legality, you have lawful options to blow the whistle. They do not involve leaking to the press.

Consult with qualified counsel. You can honor your Oath without breaking the law.
Boat strikes put US service members in legal jeopardy:

"Some junior officers have asked military lawyers, known as judge advocates general or JAGs, for written sign-off before taking part in strikes .... It does not appear that such memos were furnished, said one of the people."
