I asked Schumer about this last night and his answer was basically that they’re wrong.
The American Federation of Government Employees, which represents 800,000+ federal and D.C. workers (i.e. people directly impacted by a government shutdown), is urging senators to vote no on the House GOP's CR.
In other words, AFGE is saying a government shutdown is less bad than this GOP bill.

One of the most important things both politically (& I think morally) that blue/purple states can do over the next 5 years, ahead of the 2030 Census & resulting redistricting process, is build more housing to make it cheaper for folks to live & thrive -- that work happens at the state + local level.

This is true and is why @runforsomething.net also works in red states - in fact, we’re in all 50 states and have won races in 49. (Just missing Idaho.) Building long term power requires that kind of broad investment.
We can’t win nationally if Dems keep ignoring red states. It’s not about changing red minds. It’s about getting disillusioned blue nonvoters to the polls.
