I'm a reasonably media literate chap but I've seen that that "Where Love Lives" John Lewis xmas ad at least 10 times now and I am still none the wiser what it's trying to say.

Something was up the second Jurasek came on the pitch. Hobbled around very slowly until he was subbed 10 minutes later. What was that about? #ncfc

Of course. The key beneficiary of this ludicrous bubble would like to keep the dance going for a little while longer.

We're at the point where it is a news story that a company which sells articles of clothing is not refusing to cater to certain categories of people who need those articles of clothing. The transphobic moral panic not just evil, it is objectively insane.

I think the Vibecoding reddit has accidentally stumbled on the best description of vibecoding:

It's "roleplay for guys [it is always guys] who want to feel like hackers without doing the hard part".

Call me old fashioned but I much prefer the traditional "least privilege" security model over the "recklessly permissive but with contrite apologies" one that vibe coding enthusiasts seem willing to accept.
Vibe coding is so weird to me. Computers apologizing profusely because you asked them to write some code and they deleted your production data instead, sounds like a clip from Futurama as opposed to a regular day as a software dev.

The future is a weird place. Screenshot from Reddit.

Don't worry if you do badly in your A-levels. You're posting on Bluesky, you're in your forties, it's a bit late to be worrying about that sort of thing now.

This is my favorite take so far on GPT-5's reception and what it means.
GPT-5 has been hyped for years as the next step towards AGI. Sam Altman promised a "PhD-level intelligence on any topic." It's not even close.

On the terms OpenAI itself laid out for its own product, any fair assessment must conclude that GPT-5 is a failure.

Now the question is: Will it matter?
GPT-5 is a joke. Will it matter?
How the fraught release of the most-hyped AI product yet clarifies the stakes.

I reckon I could be trusted not to open the envelope prematurely. I would absolutely fail to remember to open the envelope in 2026 though.

I'm not sure what I'm doing next month. A task that needs to be carried out in a different year? Not happening.
Stolen from another place.

I, too, would fail this test.

As end-of-empire scenarios go it is so much more dignified to get your capital city sacked by the Visigoths than to have a bunch of illiterate rich people in their 70s doing it through a series of incomprehensible tantrums because their brains were defeated by their phones.

In a sane timeline, a journalist stops the president there and interjects: "Mr President, what do you mean by 'privilege'? This is Epstein's paedophile crime island remember?"

Just a professional journalist doing their job, stating the obvious. That's all it'd take.
Trump on Epstein island: "I never had the privilege of going to his island."
