The Worst Thing About The Worst Movie of the Year

Last year's Halloween special was on Francis Ford Coppola. The year before that was on Ingmar Bergman! This year... oh boy. It's not the horror movie 2025 needs but it's the one it deserves.

Tim Miller makes a plea for more straight, woke influencers: "This is a message for hot straight men with muscles who work out, and who are also woke. We just need you to just do a little bit of commentary."

Schrader made an absurdly successful late career comeback, put out a couple more quality flicks, then bottomed out personally and professionally in just seven years.

Die My Love is pretty good. At the very least it's a very visceral expression of a kind of postpartum id.

I enjoyed most of Bugonia but that ending is almost catastrophically bad. I get the choice but it lands poorly, both in terms of the context of the film and the greater cultural moment. Individual scenes and images are good, even great, and Emma Stone is fantastic, but man does it fall apart.

The endings that have stuck with me most:

Oppenheimer
Tar
Aftersun
Killers of the Flower Moon
The Iron Claw
Challengers
what’s the best movie ending of the decade so far?

A very good point about the GTA VI fired workers stuff, that maybe doesn't even need to be said - if the workers were actually leaking information that wasn't just working conditions, it's GTA VI. We would've heard about a massive wave of information, the fact that there's nothing is telling.

Yeah that sounds like something people invested in AI and who stand to gain financially from AI's success would say. You might as well publish that McDonalds CEO claims McDonalds makes tastiest hamburgers.

After The Hunt? More like After The Hits!

Following a string of bangers, Luca stumbles. Movie isn't unwatchably bad or anything. Performances are strong as is the filmmaking scene to scene but the substance is lacking. A thin movie - in plot, character, and theme - stretched well beyond its means.
