The annoying thing about the "oh we left a placeholder" generative AI slop excuse is that that is EXACTLY NOT how you should be using placeholders. Anything "not obviously terrible with a panicked hurried half-awake glance" is getting shipped.
In gamedev, if you're using a placeholder asset, best practices involve marking it as placeholder so garishly and offensively clearly PLACEHOLDER that you can't possibly miss it. Also flagging that asset in the dev process so it can be identified quickly before the final build.

"No one is angry about games not containing gen AI" is such a hell of a good point. It is incredibly off-putting to many customers, an absolute deal-breaker, yet there is no flip side to that, no consumer base clamouring for it, no demand. They can only try to wear people down into accepting it.

Recognizing that just turning it off isn't enough you must not even support the thing to truly have an impact on the decision.
Playing the game(especially streamers) still gives value in the decision to use it.

The amount of people in the comment section who just dont care about ai voices or are making exceptions for them in X game they want to play makes me worried for the state of the industry.
