Hey, just a quiet reminder: it’s not true that people get more conservative as they age. *Populations* get more conservative as they age because poor and marginalized people die sooner.

Seniors Are More Conservative Because the Poor Die Off
Sometimes older voters aren’t just naturally more conservative. It’s just that wealthier and whiter people tend to live longer and healthier lives.

Tapping the sign

The sign [Every messaging complaint is just a complaint about a lack of message distribution]
Again, the problem was not 'messaging' in the sense that Democrats and Harris and Biden didn't say what Trump's plans are and their consequences, they said so over and over again in many many different ways
Apropos of nothing: Kamala Harris predicted this exact moment happening:

“Understand that part of Trump’s plan is to put in place a national sales tax of at least 20% on everyday goods and necessities.”

She warned us over & over again & she was so right.

⬇️🧵 #Thread

After Trump narrowly won Wisconsin in 2016, then-Attorney General Brad Schimel said the state's new strict voter IDs made the margin of difference for Trump.

Now, Schimel is running to join the state supreme court, flip to conservatives, & uphold GOP voting laws:

We won't jump from political alliance with confederal and federal characteristics to federation without being at war with Russia.
So a confederal army or more bi/multilateral permanent integrated forces
This proves my point.

There is no borrower of last resort for the Euro, that’s a big reason we have had so many problems reacting to the 2008 financial crisis etc.

Why? The EU is not a federal state. So the answer was a mess of national interests.

Similarly, there is no EU “army of last resort”.
"A European currency cannot exist without a European state, a European sovereign, with one - democratic - borrower of last resort."
Political ad hoc solutions, that change to federalism sooner or later (or collapse) are fine actually.

Tapping the sign:

"Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect."

Compelling rhetoric, but only makes sense if EU citizens and states agree on a full-spectrum federal (super)state first.

A European army cannot exist without a European state, a European sovereign, with one political - democratic - chain of command.

There is no consensus on that, so no EU army.
27 armies won’t cut it. Relying only on NATO? Too risky. It’s time to fight as one. As Zelensky said: "The time has come for the armed forces of Europe to be created."

Let’s unite and take action!

i think sincerity is a seriously unrated trait in politics
My best political advice is to loudly and continuously communicate your sincere beliefs instead of playing a game of reading tea leaves from voters who think foreign aid is 25% of the government’s budget and couldn’t find Pokrovsk on a map if they tried.

Defense spending is merely a symptom. If 🇩🇪/🇪🇺 really want/need to separate themselves militarily/monetarily from 🇺🇸, the entire economic model needs to change. A defense fund while continuing to believe the rest of the surplus/export-centric/low debt model is fine is a category error.

Why do we see this big gender voting gap among the young?

Is it feminism? Yes... and NO.

There’s another important factor, rarely discussed but quite evident.

I am translating into English for @bsky.app a threat of mine that went viral on Spanish Twitter.
The gender voting gap is super visible among the young.

Feminism and loss of male privilege is a key explanation. But also there has been a contstant decline of young men's economic conditions that has little to do with women's advancement. We need to address both.

The root that tears apart your foundation begins as a seed of distrust, hate, and blame.

The seed that grew into a dictatorship in Europe didn’t arrive overnight.

It started with everyday Germans mad about inflation and looking for someone to blame.

The one where we do see a massive step change? It's the massive disconnect between what folks say about their own financial situation vs "the economy" (local & national). That's entirely consistent with what they've heard about "the economy" in the media in that period, esp. in conservative media.
