Wow! I remember a time when cars ruled in Paris. What a difference cycling infrastructure makes.

This would be my community of the District of Oak Bay. Can’t have a winter market cause.. no parking. Arg.
Who needs a village when you can have parking lots?

What the hell is with this? Censored 60 minutes?? What’s next with the Trump Regime? Wow.
Why would anyone risk themselves to go on 60 Minutes after this? How can viewers ever trust CBS News to report fairly on topics this White House is sensitive about?

This is really cool! Hope it’s available in Canada soon.
Dutch adaptive bike specialist Van Raam (#DCEnetwork) has been awarded the EuroBike Award for its newest development, the Thuja. Designed to meet the needs of active older adults, the Thuja combines the agility of a city bike with the comfort and stability of a tricycle.

Recently reached a milestone with my e-bike. Since I got my e-bike in 2018, I ride more often and for longer distances. It’s been a fun, enjoyable ride. Quite different from the standard bikes I rode for 30 years. As for those folks who suggest elders can’t ride bicycles… oh yeah?? NOT true.

Strange how any negative framing of auto culture is automatically anti-car & radical yet the billions of dollars spent on reckless car ads and auto first infrastructure isn't framed as anti-pedestrian, anti-bike, anti-transit, anti-person, anti-senior, anti-child or anti-planet.

How extreme car dependency is driving Americans to unhappiness
A car is often essential in the US but while owning a vehicle is better than not for life satisfaction, a study has found, having to drive too much sends happiness plummeting

So sad. Looks like wearing a helmet didn’t make a difference

if only people got as upset with the disastrous and hostile spaces we continually build as they do the suggestion of prioritizing design over shaming. bsky.app/profile/tomf...
There will never be a bell loud enough, a helmet strong enough or clothing bright enough to make up for poor infrastructure.

Unfortunately, council in my community doesn’t seem to ‘get that’ and consistently vote against cycling infrastructure. Sigh…
Dedicated bicycle lanes save lives, yet another study shows.
Cities with dedicated bike lanes had 44% fewer deaths and 50% fewer serious injuries than the average American city, partly because that infrastructure tended to slow traffic down slightly.

I’ve cycled on bike lanes like this in the Netherlands and its as comfortable as the video shows.
The @cityofdeltabc.bsky.social seems like the perfect place to create amazing infrastructure like this
A mum and her two young children, casually cycling along a safe, protected cycle track in the Dutch countryside next to a main road, but a world away from danger. This is what freedom looks like when you design for people, not just cars

Wow! That is just so progressive.
This week NS replaced over 1.000 (!) of their OV-fiets shared bikes for models with electronic locks. These models allow the use of a public transport card instead of a traditional key to unlock the bike.

WOW! Just WOW! Wish my community saw the value in giving space to people rather than vehicles and parking.
Paris says yes to 500 more car-free streets!

In Sunday’s referendum, 67% of Parisians voted to reclaim city space for walking and cycling. The decision means 10,000 parking spaces will be removed, continuing a shift that’s already halved car traffic since 2000.

People insist they need to drive their children to school because it’s not safe. I have my doubts about this logic.
March 22, 2025 at 4:53 PM
ABSOUTELY Bike lanes are part of the solution. Wish my community of Oak Bay understood that. Oak Bay council has consistently voted against bike lanes for the past 25 years.

What if investing in bikes was more effective than building a new highway?

The City of Austin invested $50M that would have gone to a highway bridge into a world-class cycle network.
