NEW Strength In Numbers/Verasight poll out this AM. We find cuts to Medicaid deeply unpopular (58% oppose to 14%), Trump underwater on most issues (-16 net approval), Democrats ahead on the generic ballot by 6 points, and Harris leading a 2024 rematch

...and Kamala Harris leads Donald Trump in a hypothetical 2024 rematch. Results from the inaugural Strength In Numbers/Verasight poll

What was weird about that argument from DS is that it assumed that disaffected Democrats who stayed home would vote for Trump if they voted rather than disaffectedly voting for Democrats (likely far more common).

Just saw some voter file stuff and I think the argument that the popular vote would’ve been more pro-Trump if everyone had voted is wrong. I’m gonna keep looking at this, but I’m sad that media ran it uncritically—it’s a really tough thing to estimate.

I’m glad someone pointed this out…
the non-voter whose counterfactual voting behavior could be modeled based on the voting behavior of voters…would probably have voted

There are so many examples of this that you really have to conclude their very clear intent is to not ever be out of power again.
Do republicans want to set up a situation where every red state gets funding withdrawn because abortion is illegal in the state. That’s where we’re heading here. The explicit coercion is something conservatives once supposedly cared about!
Duffy on the New York City subway: "It's dangerous. It's dirty ... they don't want you to drive your car. They want you to take a train. If you want me to take a train, make the train safe, make it clean. But if you won't do that, we're gonna pull money."

Are there any elected officials talking about the morality of carrying innocent people off captive to a brutal slave labor camp in a country they’ve probably never been to before?

Does Hew Hewitt, the author of several works on Christianity, have anything to say about that?
On Hugh Hewitt’s show, Marco Rubio says El Salvador is “housing” people sent by the US. But he never says on what possible legal authority? These people haven’t committed any crime in El Salvador and by their own admission “many” have never committed a crime in the US. It all seems entirely lawless.

Many conservatives who fought against cancel culture on college campuses and championed free speech are now behind a growing crackdown on political expression at universities, in ways that try to sidestep the Constitution’s free-speech guarantees.

President Trump and state politicians are pushing new laws and policies that crack down on curriculum, protests and speakers.

Something I've now heard from federal worker constituents at several agencies: Musk and Trump's mass firings are clearing out all personnel from FOIA offices and leaving them completely empty, it sounds obviously intentional.
