I'm sure that health insurance CEO did some unethical profit-maxing stuff..

..But the plan simply can't be [if you run a health insurance company which denies some claims, it is morally good for you to be murdered].

Killing bad players won't help fix the rules of the game.

The usual suspects are out there yelling "There are 23 million government workers! Fire most of them!" No awareness that most work for local governments, and most of *them* are schoolteachers. Federal employment hasn't grown since the 1950s

I don't think I'm going to transfer completely over here permanently. The international base is not on here and it doesn't seem to be changing that fast.
I have other hard to explain issues with the whole blue sky/Twitter split but I'll try to use that as a chance to make a separate community here.

I don't want this place to be kinder and gentler than Twitter, I want it to be a drop-in replacement
I’m well aware of Erick’s track record but might I suggest that the replies to this falsify the claim that BlueSky is kinder and gentler than Twitter?
Oh wow. Unlike the bird site, this site is functional today.

That was my theory about sentiment (which explained why sentiment decreased more for higher income populations). Not sure how to reconsider post election.

somewhat convinced that the response wasn’t to covid inflation (cost of household goods) but rather the cost of services driven by low unemployment/interest rate hike’s killing off VC subsidies

Andrew Bailey is right. Most people don't realise how shockingly *bad* is the UK's goods trade performance after Brexit and the pandemic. UK exports are 23% lower than the pre-2020 trend and imports are 16% below the trend.

Congrats to @bluesky for all the new users

My 2 cents. Find every news source the has an RSS feed or equivalent and create accounts that that show their public deeds on here under @johndoetimesfeed

That way we all get access to news without having to wait for them to create accounts first.

Very nice to get an influx of followers just in time for my most well researched piece since I’ve been writing. This is the 1st in a 4 part series on the efficacy of strategic bombing and AirPower. This covers theory, WWII, the USSBS, and the creation of the USAF! (Reposts appreciated!)

🧵One of the most encouraging trends in academia over the last decade is the semi-spontaneous emergence of a massive interdisciplinary network committed to confronting scientific racism in all of its disgusting forms and applications
I decided to go ahead and make a starter pack of historians, scientists, and others who work on scientific racism. If you’d like to be added to the pack (or removed from it), let me know.

I'm sorry, guys. But there's nothing she could have done. Maybe keeping Biden in would have made some minor difference, certainly not enough to win with the media on his back chewing him up. At the end of the day, I think a large portion of the people absolutely want this.

It's all talk. Ppl in Europe are equally resistant to spending on defense as anyone else. The US, this, the US that. For months, we in Europe could have used FMS mechanisms to send aid to Ukraine. We didn't. I'd love to see change, but I fucking doubt we will see anything but accommodation for Trump
Senior EU officials in Bxl and EU capitals have been talking about Trump proofing for over a year - on trade, fiscal space, the EU pillar within NATO, and Ukraine. Some of those plans are more advanced than others. Let's hope that unity as opposed to fragmentation now prevails 🇪🇺
