If business ops all over the globe are affected by one vendor having an outage, I think it's time to look at 1) redundancy 2) regulation 3) failover contingencies and 4) prevention of monopolies in infra. Right now it's that xkcd comic where an entire company is reliant on that one open source brick
The latest Cloudflare and Amazon outages have got me thinking about utilities. We can't build modern software without dependencies. The days of running entirely on the client are over, which I see as a good thing. The cost is that we rely on infrastructure.
