Confucius supposedly said, “To know what you know and what you do not know, that is true knowledge.” I think the more knowledge you have, the more imposter syndrome you have (at least, I do). The corollary here is that the ruling “elite” (quotes required) are a bunch of no-nothing clueless bastards
Somewhere out there someone who’s the best at what they do is terrified that they have imposter syndrome while a bunch of barely literate pedophiles are very calmly running the world

Gather around, kids, as our loremaster Tdot spins the annual yarn of The Foodraiser - and then donate and help feed 13 elementary schools over the holiday break! (Scroll up from the skeet below for links.)

III. A REASONABLY-CONDENSED-ISH HISTORY

This will sound repetitive to the OG's, but there are only so many different ways I can narrate the same shenanigans for 10 straight years!

Know that entire books could be written just on Foodraiser logistics drama 🤪

This is “I’ve invented an engine that runs only on water” levels of quackery. A “solar continuous microwave pyrolysis reactor” - a word salad of epic proportions - that produces “gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, natural gas, and solid carbon” is as plausible as aviatory swine. Absolute hogwash.

Thanks to Erin, this post has prompted me to insist on plain bagel, plain cream cheese, red onion, capers, and (light) lox for Sunday breakfast. And much love to my wife, who said she’d go get it. Also, my brother who lives in Jackson Heights wouldn’t even vote for me, so political office be damned!
Tell me your bagel order and I will tell you *based on NYC cultural expectations* if you have won or lost your election for political office in NYC.
One of my favorite things about NYC is whenever anyone runs for office here they are required to disclose their bagel order.

Fascinating. I’m 53 and Tron was such an influence that I can hear the soundtrack in my head without even trying. Tron wasn’t just cool with me and my friends, it was almost life changing - the idea of Flynn directed many of us toward computer-based careers. What a difference 3 years makes!
That sounds about right. Tron was kinda a flash in the pan that I barely remember from my childhood. And I'm 50.
I'm perplexed at watching pundits in the trades struggling to explain Tron Ares' disappointing opening.

Was it covid? Do people just not like science fiction? etc. etc.

The main reason is pretty obvious: Tron isn't a popular franchise. Nobody's interested in nostalgia for a failed 1980s project.

Spent last night and this morning scrolling BlueSky and reading skeets about the baseball game last night. It sounds like an amazing game, extra innings and all, but I *still* don’t know who won! The commentary was non-specific, love-of-the-game stuff, it’s a Schrödinger’s Team situation! ❤️⚾️

Almost every morning, the tripod hops up onto the bed and curls up with me, making it difficult to get up and moving. Loving a #caturday long lie with my favorite tripod!

If anyone following me is interested in hearing more from me, especially with regards to general aviation, plastic models, or renewable energy, I’d love to hear it. I avoid social media because of the toxicity, but if there’s value in adding otherwise, I’d love to offer my tiny contribution!

I’ve not been contributing to the latest group build, but I want to say that you all make me *want* to contribute and I’m so happy I follow #scalemodels #histscalemodels! I’ve loved the heavies build (so far) and y’all have given me hope when the world is on fire. Thank you!

Made the recurring pilgrimage back to Bluesky today (reinstalled after deleting due to doom threads) and I found the most amazing pseudoscience doublespeak garbage! I’m so highly amused, I couldn’t block it, I keep going back to read more, like it’s the empty calories and trash taste of Twinkies

If there’s one thing that reminds me that I’m a servant, not an owner, it’s that at least one cat both pooped *and* peed under my desk while I was traveling. I missed you, too, ya mangy furbags

Okay, I’m back from my hiatus and I gotta say, after a couple of weeks in Hawaii and a long weekend on South Padre…y’all need to start skeeting more about happy stuff, or I’m gonna wind up living solely in my meat space instead of online. (Maybe not a bad thing?) Missed y’all, but not the news!

Alright, time to cash in bets, option A wins! Turns out it only took 6 months for the existential dread from social media to kick in, so I’m going to take a break for a while. Turns out being constantly reminded of…<*waves hands*> all this…is not so good for my mental health after all. Be well, all!
Okay, so I left the dying bird site just before Elon took over and have just now have arrived here. Fingers crossed! But I’m curious, who thinks I’m going to miss all the social media free years, and who thinks I’ve finally found my way back?

It’s almost like the dems are so deep into loss aversion that they’re now at the other end of the spectrum - No risk is worth taking a loss even to realize the largest of gains.
Y'all remember when Booker did the 24-hour speech, and the immediate next piece of business was Dems allowing a fast-track of the confirmation for the toilet guy?

Fun times
BREAKING

Charles Kushner, the father of Jared Kushner, has had his nomination to serve as US Ambassador to France confirmed by the Senate.

Notably: Cory Booker voted to advance his nomination.

Here’s what former US Attorney Chris Christie said about the crimes Kushner committed.
