I'm Clear Autism, and I post about neurodiversity/neurodivergence, disability and carers rights, and related issues, in English and French (UK based but lived in France for years). Probably AuDHD but shy about it.

“Why are men afraid of women?”
“If your strength is only the other's weakness, you live in fear,” Ged said.
“Yes; but women seem to fear their own strength, to be afraid of themselves.”
“Are they ever taught to trust themselves?” Ged asked
“No,” she said.

I see AI slop in anything, I instantly disregard the whole thing. It's like finding a slug in your salad. If you can't write without an LLM, or you can't source art that isn't genAI, you can't be trusted to do anything. Sorry. Absolute deal-breaker.
I don’t know if anyone else notices or cares, but when I see a presentation in which the speaker uses obviously generated-AI images to illustrate their slides, it makes me immediately less confident in whatever other content they’re presenting.

#Budget2025

Tax breaks for UK company cars cost the exchequer £3.27 billion a year

Motability costs £1 billion

Both are valuable to the folk who get them, and yet we save our pitchforks and torches for disabled people

Plenty of the people getting outraged about Trump insulting people have had no problem at all with calling him immature and ableist names, especially ones related to his intellect, age, or some illness or disability.

You know who you are.

This.
Also, when non autistic people ask a question, often the aim is actually NOT (in my experience) to seek further information.
The real subtext is to try and test or catch the person out in some way.
So naturally, the assumption is that this is your objective too, hence the defensive reaction.
Because they don't know why. They can't provide the information and feeling inadequate to the task of a social expectation is such a novel experience that it's expedient for them to assume the person who asked the question maliciously set them up for failure.

PSA to neurotypicals - asking “why” is not arguing. “Here is how a thing is.” “Why?” Is not an argument. It’s a request for more information. Why is the thing that way? Teach me.

Note the age range. Yes, there are autistic people in their 90’s — and every other age, for that matter.

And yes, there were autistic people around when you were a kid; the difference is that back then we didn’t have the language or diagnostic tools to identify them. I speak from experience …

All benefits are entitlements.

All benefits are 100% valid for anyone who qualifies.

Whether it be disability benefits, UC, out of work benefits, child benefit, State Pension, Carers Allowance, or anything else.

End the benefits stigma. We will all claim benefits in our lives.

It’s something most folks won’t understand until it happens to them.

It’s not easy. It’s not fun. It’s certainly not a vacation.

A little less judgement and a bit more compassion would go a long way.

It could happen to you tomorrow.

“If it were that bad you would get help.”

“If you can post on social media you’re fine”.

Disabled people are constantly subjected to “if” statements from people who have no concept how bad it can get & how little help is available
