The fear mongering of this article, and the mental illness shaming in the comments is seriously pissing me off. People saying the kids must have been so scared (they had no idea) and they could have been deranged child killers...

School lockdown after south Essex mental health hospital patient 'scaled fence'

What if you tried experiencing having one first?
I think this is what is meant by the term ‘blind privilege’.

Dont make it worse by gate keeping other people’s experiences

New documentary coming out on how Hitler was probably autistic, but the producers are keen to make sure their findings don't cause stigma for the condition...

This is sort of a myth, but I don't think it's untrue, however I think there are certain traits that make it seem this way.

1. Black and white thinking leading to 'right' or 'wrong'.

2. Experiencing a lot of injustice in life.

3. Not always understanding intentions
not all autistic humans have an "innate sense of justice"

just another trope

The autism book i'm reading now, the author says how much she lost not being diagnosed earlier, how much easier school would have been, how much less bullied she'd have been. But i'm not sure. I completely agree earlier diagnosis is essential...

I hope everyone who donated to David Cartland's "legal fees" are happy to know he spent the money publishing the most poorly written and researched book ever seen 🤦🏼‍♀️

The best part of being here instead of the other place is not having to spend all day discussing and arguing about antidepressants. It seems only one narrative was allowed on there.

One of the reasons I left X. People seem to think they can gatekeep who's allowed in the 'club' and whose diagnosis is accurate and who's isn't. Continual in-wars around levels of support needs too now.
if you're the type of autistic who is speaking about "real autistics" and "fake autistics" you're a shmuck.

There's a town in the UK with a Reform MP who can't put up Christmas lights because of the flags, and they can't take down the flags because Reform promised they wouldn't... 🤣

A man stabbed multiple people on a train near to where I used to live, and now people are just desperately trying to find a reason to blame it on any minority group they can find he belonged to, as evidence of them being the problem 1/

Being autistic in a capitalist world means you’re constantly asked to prove your humanity by performing productivity.

And then they wonder why we burn out.

Had to leave X. Someone who threatened me years ago teamed up with someone harassing me now, and started spreading the most absurd lies. Then someone who I thought was once a friend started sharing my private DMs. Tipped me over the edge as already in crisis. Please tell me here is better?!

Sensory issues go underrecognized in part because they are processed internally, but also because autistic people, especially women & girls, often learn to mask them.
