some career-changing personal news
btw I have had an extremely heavy week so I think I’m going to reward myself this weekend with a trip to World Market where they still have the Bonne Maman one in stock AND another one with French jams but also MUSTARDS 😍 so like that’s December and January on lock
everything is bonkers right now and we need a timeline cleanse. let’s play a game. if I handed you a blank check but you could ONLY spend it on an Advent calendar, what absurdly pricy collection of little treats are you buying yourself?

i love how bsky posters are so eager to appear worldly and wise that they'll jump to say "AND YOU'RE SURPRISED????" to the craziest shit that's ever happened. if bluesky existed on 9/11/01 you fucking bet these people would out here with "obviously, everyone with a brain cell could see this coming"
does mamdani smell really good in person or something. like he seems very charming yes but what the fuck lol

Trump: anything else pal?

Zohran: I dunno you want to sink the GOP nominee for governor?

Trump: no problem!
Q: Stefanik has called Mamdani a 'jihadist.' Do you think you're standing next to a jihadist right now?

TRUMP: No, I don't. I met with a man who's a very rational person

Incredible to see our Dem leaders pass a resolution condemning socialism while our greatest socialist mayor hasn't even been sworn in and has already gotten the president to admit to being a fascist

Also I'm used to Mamdani's telegenicity from the campaign but also something else how *on-message* he is--not taking bait but also sticking with his own issues/framing, all while not coming across like he's cowed or kissing up. Dunno how many Dems could pull that off in a meeting

Trump is a creature of media before anything else and I suspect one thing we're seeing in this (wild!) Mamdani meeting is that nothing impresses/intimidates him like someone capable of generating a competing media phenomenon

I feel like the last couple decades of "is representation good or not?" discourse missed more important questions of "how fragile is representation?", "what do we do when multiple industries eliminate it as an intentional move against us?" and "how can we sustain queer artists when shit goes south?"
"According to the report, [...]during the 2024-25 television season, queer characters increased across platforms by 4%, bringing the total to 489. However, the Thursday report found that 41% of those characters will not return." www.thewrap.com/glaad-where-...

they’ve been saying it and saying it and saying it, like we all knew, but there’s something about seeing it in print on the official government site where people who don’t know any better will still go looking for information that just really sent a chill down my spine
The U.S. government is now inarguably spreading medical disinformation that is going to kill babies preferentially.

Period.

This is an INTOLERABLE. UNPRECEDENTED. DANGEROUS. ATTACK. ON ALL OF US.
