This seems like the most straightforward and also basically accurate message.
instead of saying this was good strategy, maybe senate dems should say: "the republicans were going to kill people by starving them to death, and because we aren't monsters, we decided to let this fight go. We'll keep fighting. Stop electing monsters."

Voters should pick their representatives, not the other way around. Glad to get the chance to talk to some of the volunteers and organizers doing the hard work to make sure Prop 50 passes. This vote will have critical implications, not just for California, but for our entire country.

Important to note that Republicans are the ones who led the ethics investigation and eventual expulsion by a 311-114 vote, clearing a two-thirds majority in a Republican controlled house. This is someone deemed unacceptable to Trump’s own party, and he is explicit that his loyalty overrides that.
