Advice distilled from an NSF PO:

Apply for NSF funding this year. Because NSF's current policy is to forward-fund active projects (e.g. pay down their mortgage on the future years of funding), there are plausible budget scenarios where NSF has a LARGE budge to spend next fiscal year (on your grant)

Some of us need to fight within the system, some of us need to create new systems, some us need to tend the wounded, some of us need to stand in the way of harm, and all of us need to support the ones doing the things that is not, right now, our thing to do. Good thing there are a lot of us.

The fact is that in the United States, right-wing violence
1. Is much more common than left-wing violence
2. Furthers the interests of the Republican Party, while what little left-wing violence exists mainly causes headaches for Democrats
3. Is coddled by the Republicans

I just like to post these data from time to time to puncture the mythological aura of mid 20th c protests. They were less popular than pretty much any 21st c mass action & people criticizing them used the same lines. Protest is about people coming together, shaping narratives, & building power.
