My alma mater, where i got married, where i taught for 3 years. I love IU and will never be able to forgive what they’ve done to it.
"IU was a gem in Indiana. The state legislature and the IU Board of Trustees appear to have hired Whitten to fulfill an ultraconservative and Christian nationalist agenda... Sadly, they are destroying all that made IU great in the process."

Scathing but spot-on.

Several games preservation projects are in limbo now that their grants have been rescinded. Preservation is a crucial issue facing the industry right now — and without funding, some of these projects are at risk.

If you’ve been job hunting the last few years, you’ve seen the evidence of this, studios are overwhelmingly trying to push us into lower paying roles with fewer benefits.

Aside from the CEO pay, the median EA employee compensation going from $149k to $117k in a single year is shocking.
CEO compensation graphed next to employee compensation. 🙃

This quote just makes me deeply sad. He isn’t talking about games as art, compelling stories, unforgettable experiences. It’s just “how can we keep you hooked longer.” It’s gambling
I was catching up on the Marathon delay news, and this quote by Herman Hulst perfectly sums up why these games aren't for me anymore.

Every single time all they talk about is analytics, test groups, engagement and research data. The word "Fun" is never used in any of those interviews.

Fun fact: in the 1960s, Civil Rights protestors were given literal classes on nonviolent protest; they didn't all just spontaneously know what to do.

So, if you're planning on showing up, this weekend: read this comic. And if you're staying home, signal-boost it/link it around.
I did my best to compile as many protest safety notes as possible into a one page foldout zine! Coincidentally…it seems the file has breached containment…like it’s available for anyone to print or hand out 👀⚖️

Earlier today ICE agents hit someone with a car and tear gassed a neighborhood, sparking several fires and disrupting businesses.

Immigrants, by contrast, did not.
ICE is a much greater threat to this country than illegal immigrants. The current administration ia by far the greatest threat this country faces. The problem is not st our borders. It is in the White House.

Sometimes content gets cut because of time and money. Sometimes it gets cut because it doesn't work. Sometimes because it's bad and you have to get rid of it so it doesn't poison the good parts. For better and worse, the thing you're playing is the thing.
my most player-hating video game opinion is that cut content isn't full of secret mysteries and people are killing the conversation by insisting that data-mining is a good way to approach a narrative.
