MyAnimeList scores are as irrelevant and useless as IMDB scores. Don't let arbitrary numbers influence and dissuade you from enjoying or checking out what looks interesting to you.

Every time someone asks for a suggested watch order for a big franchise like Gundam or Macross on social media, it turns into a shitshow of people who have no chill getting way too serious about it and being unhelpful. You're better off just picking something random and seeing if you like it.

As I keep saying, IP owners need to learn to start behaving more like farmers who plan for the long term and who know when to rotate crops & let the soil fall fallow, rather than greedy robber barons who relentlessly stripmine until there’s nothing left and the whole thing collapses.

Every anime fan should have at least one Blu-ray player. 4K UHD Blu-ray if you can swing it, consoles and PC’s with disc drives count, just get something that will playback discs. If you’re younger and grew up on streaming, please just listen to old people on this one thing: Get a Blu-ray player.

Learned this lesson the hard way...
It's very telling that even in the earliest days of the internet, any community that reached a certain size had to institute a rule like, "We can ban you on vibes, fuck you," if they wanted to maintain the peace. Because it's impossible for rules to cover everything bad faith might think of.

Buying a company by taking out a massive loan, then making the company you bought responsible for paying off that loan, is so patently evil that it should be beyond illegal. the post office is a public service. it doesn’t need to make money. public transit doesn’t need to make money. the library doesn’t need to make money. some things exist for the public good and we desperately need lawmakers to stop thinking about them in terms of capitalism. these are not businesses.

My most millennial take is that software as a service and anything explicitly browser based that requires an internet connection and does not run off the drive inside my machine is a fucking scam
No I do not want to sign into software.

90% of software should just run on your computer and do the thing it's built to do.

Not everything needs to be signed into.

There's no reason I should have to sign into Adobe Acrobat reader!

I actually had to explain to someone recently that the AI that tells enemies in video games how to react to player inputs is NOT genAI and has existed for literal decades. they genuinely had no idea there was a difference. this shit has poisoned the well so bad.
I hate AI, but I think we should think more critically about blanket-condemning anything that could be ai. Big genAI, which steals copyrighted works, poisons our collective knowledge, and consumes unconscionable amounts of energy is BAD. On-device ai that lets me search my photos for dogs is FINE.

Gundam X feels like the logical extreme of early UC series. Humanity is near extinct, Newtypes are still exploited, and the fate of all humanity rests on one teenager that grabs a Gundam controller.

I adore X's atmosphere so much, both through its visuals and its gloomy soundtrack.
