I kinda hope we don't get a new Super Smash Bros. I think they should just make Ultimate into a Switch 2 Edition game. Enhance the visuals, offer a 120 fps mode, do some extra balancing and maybe (big maybe) add a few characters. I think a break for a generation will do the series some good.

I find so many artists I've never seen before when researching ref on every single painting I make. This is the way we make connections. Using genAI to make reference is creating unseen missed opportunities at unprecedented speed and removing one more human element of art making.

Like man, my career only exists in the way that it does now because a production designer was googling "realistic pokemon" and found me. If he could have just had a machine spit that out, I never would have gotten a job. This is a major issue hitting artist discoverability.

The thing thats so insidious about using AI this way is that one of the main ways artists get hired are studios looking for art references and they find us and reach out.
This is removing a major avenue to get work if they can just generate nameless derivations of our ideas.

The Final Fantasy VII Remake demo on Switch 2 is incredible looking. Plus, they kept the seamless transition from cutscene to in-engine graphics and it doesn’t miss a beat, so that’s cool.

Now I’m really glad I didn’t watch. Nothing new on Virtua Fighter.
Not watching The Game Awards, but I hope to hear new info afterwards about Virtua Fighter 6 (as well as a release date for Virtua Fighter 5 Switch 2 version).

I think what’s really surprising about this is that it isn’t one of the titles Nintendo officially unveiled back during the Direct announcing GameCube for NSO, so I hope they start digging deep into that library. I want Geist on there, just because.
