(Switch 2’s visuals outperform Series S is what I was trying to say there. I just got back into the US, jet lag is not my friend)

I just wish the entire rest of the industry wasn’t so reliant on AMD. I know why Valve is doing it, Linux and nVidia is just a recipe for disaster, but AMD feels like they’re taking their sweet time catching up in ray tracing and upscaling tech. (That PS6 Cerny teaser sounded promising though)

Oh yeah, I think Valve has a ton of fire to become the 3rd pillar of console industry beating Microsoft to the punch with their own console/PC hybrid so I’m really rooting for this to make Nintendo and Sony sweat (it probably won’t though).

… as I already got that set up the way I like it on my mini PC. So at least on that end, it’s not a selling point to me personally, but I can see it certainly being huge for people who want to get into emulation who haven’t before.

DLSS is great, it’s AMD’s FSR tech that has been woefully behind nVidia in that area. Look at Street Fighter 6 and Star Wars Outlaws: In my opinion, those games outperform in visuals the Series S version because of DLSS despite a much smaller power envelope. As for emu, not a selling point for me…

I hope they decide to subsidize it similar to a console, but I think that’s probably gonna be the price.

I think in reality, we’re probably looking at a 1440p target for the box, which is fine with me. I play mostly on Switch 2 these days and it basically defaults to 1080p for most games and that’s fine with me.

They’re claiming their HDMI 2.0 port can do 4K/120Hz, which makes no sense because 2.0 tops out at 60Hz. You’d need HDMI 2.1 to get there and get VRR out of it.

Hmm… they didn’t say a price and looking at some of the specs I think that might be a problem. If it’s super affordable in the $300 to $400 range, I think the box makes sense, but if it’s higher than that, I don’t think it’ll be worth it with outdated RDNA3 cores and HDMI 2.0.

But if you’re using HEVC instead of H264, you could probably save a lot more space at 1080p SDR at lower bitrates.

This will be the first time the anime sequence that Production I.G finished on their own without financial backing from Miramax will be included in the film as originally intended, so even if you were one of the lucky few to see TWBA previously, there’s even more you didn’t see.

To clarify slightly: I know the Kill Bill volumes came out in 2003 and 2004, but “The Whole Bloody Affair” version originally premiered in 2006 with the an extended anime sequence that Japanese viewers saw, as well the Crazy 88 fight in color, along with some other differences.

Sadly, we just stopped getting Japanese credits from them in original kanji overall, which I think is the worse result but oh well.
