absolutely nothing discredits “longtermism” more than how much of these freaks are only belatedly realizing how much of a mistake it was to bandwagon with Trump

Elon Musk has been a walking SEC violation for a decade and no one cared. The entire Trump era could have been avoided if the US took white collar crime anywhere near as seriously as it does low level drug crime.

On a 2023 earnings call, Elon Musk boasted that Tesla had bagged “over 1 million” Cybertruck reservations and that “demand is off the charts.”

So why has the company still sold less than 50,000 trucks since customer deliveries began 14 months ago?
‘Over 1 Million’ People Wanted a Cybertruck. Where Are They?
“Demand is off the charts!” Elon Musk crowed at the end of 2023, citing more than a million reservations for Tesla's polarizing polygonic pickup—so why has it still sold less than 50,000?

having been in many rooms where protests are initially orchestrated, i can say sights like this are a highly desired outcome. protests are inherently theatrical & part of that is triggering state actors to unwittingly adopt the role they were born to play.

THAT DIDN'T TAKE LONG: Plaintiffs in one lawsuit against DOGE have alerted the court to President Trump's remarks tonight calling Elon Musk the "head" of the office.

ironically this also makes me less annoyed with the members of House Dem rank-and-file who did protest. I thought the protests were generally weak but if even silent disruptions are disobeying leadership I gotta give some credit.
Rashida Tlaib's whiteboard, Dave Min's pocket Constitution, and Jasmine Crockett's T-shirt were all, apparently, against the advice of Hakeem Jeffries, not to mention the actual walkouts and heckling

Trump backed GOP into a big corner with his “balanced budget” point.

The ONLY way House GOP could even think about upholding their “no cuts to Medicaid” swing seat promises and their spending cut mandates is deficit spending and bad math.

Now they have to gut Medicaid & hand it to Elon in public.

DOGE published their “receipts” and only fraud I see is DOGE fraudulently claiming entire value of Blanket Purchase Agreements that were averaging *way* less spend/year than the total cap implied. E.g. Dept of Ag was on track to spend $1.5M over 5 years on DEI, not the $25M DOGE claimed as “savings”

i know there's a lot of data that making people who are members of a cult feel like credulous rubes just gets them even more into the cult but, with trumpism, i think the people we need to convince are not the cultists but the marginally attached low-info voters so maybe mockery is good?

a whole bunch of people seem to have decided that because Trump committed a bunch of crimes on the way out the door the first time that him returning to office with 49% of the vote is a mandate to rule as god-emperor forever no matter what he does

this is craven and stupid and a huge mistake
we are gutting out competitive advantages and the stakeholders of our democracy don't care? what the fuck is wrong with america's elites?
