Heartbreaking words from Dr. STONE mangaka Boichi, who decided to stop posting art on X because of the implementation of the GenAI Edit button

and who has been so distressed by its hostile, destructive purpose to destroy other artists' works that he hasn't been able to eat properly since Christmas😢

BREAKING: Instacart is ending all price testing on its platform in the wake of this report.
EXCLUSIVE: We found that Instacart is using AI algorithms to charge customers different prices for the same items.

It's not just online. It's in physical grocery stores too.

Our months-long investigation with @consumerreports.org and @groundwork.bsky.social found it could cost families $1200/year.

@slop-detected.bsky.social This one is kinda a long story, but Code Mystics used AI art for their achievement images for Real Bout Fatal Fury 2 and after making fun of multiple people who were pointing it out to them, they put out an apology buried in the Steam forums.

politeness politics has always been a cudgel to beat down victims for not being polite enough while people with power do active harm
At this point even if every single English voice actor came out to say Hoyo treats them like shit, the fandom would insist they were all acting unprofessionally and that’s somehow worse.

If all you care about is decorum and not the wellbeing of actors?

You’re licking an ugly pair of boots.
I'm chatting about this in another server with people and the consensus I'm seeing is claiming Corey is acting "unprofessional" and "Theatric" in the second half of his email.

But the main defense seems to be: "Their CN/JP/KR studios never have this issue. It has to be the EN side's fault."

As it's a hot topic right now: We do not use any Gen AI or LLMs in any of our games & are not planning to.

So far its implementations have felt far from "necessary" & come with a myriad of ethical/environmental concerns.

But most importantly, we enjoy every step of the creative process without it.

I see these bots pop up again like clockwork in the general sphere of my mutuals who reply and again:

Block.
Do not engage.
It's literally a doomerism bot that is just telling everyone to off themselves.

They'll be deleted in a month and then do it again next season to make everyone depressed.

I say this with zero irony: if you are even tangentially a part of a retro video game community, it is your civic duty to push back against this company and shun anyone who doesn't. This is fascism tapping gently at the door and as soon as you let it in, it's going to invite its friends.

Case in point - I do not consider Artificial Intelligence to be truly alive. Ergo, I will not be guilty of murder if I kill it.
Keep going. Be meaner. Aim whatever lizard-brain impulse you have towards cruelty and violence in this direction.
We can do even more.

Facebook dying would be good for obvious reasons but also I think it is against the nature of a healthy internet for so few websites to be so important for so long. This might be hard to imagine if you weren't there but MySpace had cultural sway for something like three years? And that felt "normal"
