Not the actor Bruce Campbell. Spends too much time watching and thinking about the San Jose Sharks. Sometimes mistaken for a Canadian.
So glad to learn of the Bellarmine connection.

Tremendous reporting!
For Big Game week between Cal and Stanford I tracked down the anonymous Oski and Stanford Tree who got into a nationally televised brawl on ESPN 30 years ago that required police intervention. The untold story involves 18 beers, suspensions & lots of blood.

To elaborate a bit on why inviting Putin to Alaska for talks on ending the war without Zelensky (or European allies) represents, among many other things, the death of US diplomacy 🧵1/
No, he’s not giving Putin Alaska, but he is giving Putin a huge gift: the legitimacy of touching down on US soil at the invitation of a US president. A reward for the full-scale invasion of a sovereign, democratic country that the United States and its European allies support.
Putin is COMING TO THE UNITED STATES? Even by Trump 2.0 standards, this is beyond belief. U.S. diplomacy is dead.

I usually find Alexandra Petri's satirical pieces to be hit or miss. This one hits.

There are many levels to the Epstein story, with hints of Q-Anon & Pizzagate, that are farcical. But we should always remember that unlike Pizzagate, there were real victims.

Why am I so unimpressed by these strikes? Israel and the US have failed to target significant elements of Iran's nuclear materials and production infrastructure. RISING LION and MIDNIGHT HAMMER are tactically brilliant, but may turn out to be strategic failures. 🧵 1/17

Trump’s threats to Canada deserved widespread “absolutely not, what is wrong with you” reactions right from the start. But while some Americans did (hi 👋), a lot of US politicians, media, and public simply did not.

I can’t fault the Canadians, or anyone, for treating that with utmost seriousness.

If Trump is serious about tariffs on movies, it's a very dangerous escalation. Tariffs have not traditionally been applied to services, and the United States is a massive net exporter of services. We would be extremely vulnerable to any service-based retaliation.
Trump says movies produced outside the U.S. are a national security threat. So he’s imposing a 100% tariff on all movies that are “produced in foreign lands.”

I just landed in San Salvador a little while ago, and I look forward to meeting with the team at the U.S. embassy to discuss the release of Mr. Abrego Garcia.

I also hope to meet with Salvadoran officials and with Kilmar himself. He was illegally abducted and needs to come home.

I don't know if Sen. Chris Van Hollen (of Maryland, the same state as Kilmar Abrego Garcia) demanding Garcia's return and saying he'll go to El Salvador to check will work. It's impossible to know the impact in advance.

But I am glad to see Van Hollen trying something. Better to get caught trying.
