I don’t think blue state metros with high housing costs represent the country, but it does represent most of the media class who make these narratives (like Twitter!). Fixing the visible dysfunction of blue state housing costs helps in that respect. YIMBYism alone won’t beat Trump, obviously
Watching people twist themselves into pretzels to try to argue that the places that are unquestionably the outliers actually represent the normal American experience is really annoying! I’m sorry but it’s a huge country and, VERY FAMOUSLY, it’s an error to treat the coastal metros as representative

Mamdani is assembling an incredible housing team who will no doubt tell him to use his new zoning powers to finally make housing affordable in this city. He’s going to be our strongest housing mayor since Wagner.
We’re here in Central Park with Mayor-Elect @ZohranKMamdani.bsky.social to announce that our Executive Director @AnnemarieGray.bsky.social will be joining his transition committee on housing!

Q: Stefanik has called Mamdani a 'jihadist.' Do you think you're standing next to a jihadist right now?

TRUMP: No, I don't. I met with a man who's a very rational person

I think people are underestimating the likelihood of Tisch’s subordinates bypassing her and going straight to Adams, who has undermined his other police commissioners in the same way. I don’t actually believe Tisch would knowingly violate a consent decree.
Spoke with @bradlander.bsky.social about the FBI accessing Signal comms between court watchers. He said he’s concerned about the NYPD’s involvement

“That appears to me to be a violation of the Handschu consent decree—the NYPD is not allowed to participate in the surveillance of political activity”

Looking back it does seem like Mamdani promised to make CCRB the final arbiter of police discipline and he should not have said that because the mayor can't do that except indirectly by appointing a Commissioner who promises to always abide by it. But he was already talking about Tisch back then.
Before his election, Mamdani was adamant: The CCRB should get final say in NYPD discplinary cases. Now, after retaining Tisch as NYPD commish, Mamdani's changing his tune, saying he's mainly focused on ensuring CCRB's "recommendations" are "taken seriously." www.nydailynews.com/2025/11/20/m...
Mamdani softens hard line on role of NYPD watchdog in discipline after Tisch agrees to stay on
in the wake of announcing Wednesday that NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch will stay in her post under his administration, Mayor-elect Mamdani took a step back.

They’re gonna fire this AUSA now aren’t they
Comey hearing just ended. Govt admits 2d indictment never shown to full grand jury. Judge concerned. AUSA also admits DAG Blanche’s office told him not to disclose if previous prosecutors prepared a declination memo (saying why there was no case).

Discovered that basically every unit in our coop is likely overloaded bc they have 60 amp meters in the basement but the wires going up are only rated for 45. And because we’re the ones who discovered it, guess who’s not getting any of their appliances approved. I hate everything. don’t buy coops

She’s obviously not pro-lynching and too much focus is spent on the facts of the empathy ceremony on the last page of the story; “ridiculous!” is the lamest criticism of utopias. My issue is SP “works” because it’s small and isolated from the rest of humanity and that to me reads as reactionary.
“Leftists are cranks who think everything can be solved by talking and empathy” is a much fairer “I don’t like this” takeaway from that story than “a disenchanted commie version of the ritual of baptism means the author is pro-lynching.” I know y’all know better!!

you ever notice how rare it is for cops to criticize even the most corrupt cops caught dead to rights?

you ever notice how rare it is for mainstream media members to criticize other members of the msm, even if the corruption is open?

ever notice how these two things are nearly the same?

NYT has great writers like Spiers and Bouie, but when I see an email from an NYT reporter saying he knew about Trump and Epstein in 2015, I’m not extending the benefit of the doubt to the most influential paper in America. If NYT would occasionally admit its fuckups, I’d have reason to trust it.
I don't understand why people have to concoct wild conspiracy theories in order to critique the NYT. I say this as someone who writes for them: there is plenty to critique without making up wild scenarios and insisting they're true!
November 13, 2025 at 9:17 PM
I trust the WSJ much more than NYT even though its editorial skew sucks. I do not for a second believe NYT would have published Trump’s birthday card to Epstein.
I think there are a number of people employed at the New York Times -- certainly not all of them, but many! -- who simply do not grasp how badly the paper's credibility has been shaken over the past few years, along several different axes, and for multiple different reasons

I’m fine conceding that a bunch of nebulously incriminating Epstein statements do not a story make, but in that case neither does the Biden Parkinson’s nonsense, or literally any component of the various Clinton/Wikileaks pseudo-scandals, or tons of other right-wing stuff the paper has laundered
