@UKLabour, better targets than the old, sick & disabled.
The UK has the highest industrial electricity prices in Europe.

Upto 132% higher than the EU14 median. Five times more than in Finland.

Since 2020, UK's 20 largest energy companies have made £514bn operating profit, destroying businesses and households.

The Commission isn't keen on the UK joining PEM. This, I believe, reflects a view in Brussels that anything left out of the Lancaster House package is, for now, off the table. Understandably frustrating for the UK govt, but unlikely to shift before the next summit.

Reform UK has uncovered the scandal of a “wasteful” £350m contract.

Small problem: it’s not a contract. Or £350m. Or a scandal.

Here’s how they got it completely wrong.

This bizarre market mechanism only rewards producers, traders and speculators... breaking the link between gas and other sources of electricity could bring down the cost of our energy bills dramatically...it's high time we did this.

4-year-old Bakersfield girl facing deportation could die within days of losing medical care - Los Angeles Times

Don’t ever tell me that Christians support the GOP. There is nothing Christian or Christ-like about this. Just plain old cruelty and callousness:
4-year-old Bakersfield girl facing deportation could die within days of losing medical care
In 2023, a Mexican girl, 4, was allowed U.S. entry for lifesaving medical care. She and her parents, who live in Bakersfield, have been told they must leave.

I dislike analyses like these, which claim to estimate the "share" of climate change that is "caused" by the wealthiest 10%, 1%, or whatever.

They are rarely what they seem to be -- especially in popular media.

Two-thirds of global warming since 1990 caused by world’s ‘wealthiest 10%’ - Carbon Brief
Of the 0.61C increase in global average temperatures over 1990-2020, a new study estimates that 65% was due to the emissions of the wealthiest 10%.

By focusing on immigration and the Reform UK agenda, Labour effectively vindicate the belief that migrants are the reason they aren't better off, with better public services. They are creating more Reform UK voters.
It's morally wrong and politically suicidal.
