We needed that #plastic treaty bounced by big oil.
Seabirds face extreme risk after swallowing just 23 pieces of plastic, (90% chance of dying). Marine mammals reach similar danger at 29, sea turtles 405.
Less than a soccer ball's worth can be fatal to a dolphin.

So many deniers now online.
How have we got to such a rubbish filled media full of people/bots with no science knowledge, proud to flout their ignorance?
Past 12m hottest ever recorded globally.
Every year since 2015 has been among 10 warmest on record.
2024 temp 1.48 °C above pre-industrial levels

Struggling with how unprepared we are…
Anyone else?
Builders, local councils building “to a standard that’s fit for today, not for 2070 or 2080, when much more extreme weather”.
58% of retail space in flood risk areas uninsured, 50% of offices.
As #flooding⬆️ & we do nil, we are in for heartbreak.

Doctor here…
He misuses a tiny 2012 study (115 kids). They had less flu after the shot, a small blip in other viruses wasn’t “immune damage.” Many larger studies since, across many flu seasons show no increase in non-flu infections.
If risk were 4× higher, surveillance would see it.
It doesn’t.

Using heat from #DataCentres should be standard.
We need regulation.
They use ~2.5% of UK's electricity (x4 by 2030)
Big ones MUST use renewables & ones like these supported.
Thermify put small data centres into homes. Generated heat warms the home. Thermify charges customers for data work

Data are clear that burning wood in the home, even ‘eco stoves’, releases health harming particles.
Trees take ~20 years to actively gather in CO2, plantations are cut around 15y.
I would be happy to present the evidence to any & all MPs who want the science, not marketing.

In this systematic review and meta-analysis, we found that the risk of myocarditis is more than seven fold higher in persons who were infected with the SARS-CoV-2 than in those who received the vaccine”

We never thought it was.
Nature is not a blocker to housing, inquiry by MPs found, in direct conflict with claims made by ministers.
The chair of environmental audit committee, said nature was being scapegoated, & rather than being a block to growth, it was necessary for building resilient towns.

Saudi climate obstruction⬆️. A plan to cap plastic collapsed after Saudi opposition.
Carbon tax on shipping stymied after Saudi called for postponement. Even at UN desertification summit, nations failed to agree on drought prevention because Saudi refused to allow mention of climate in agreement.

“UK Labour Govt must now confirm that the Scottish Government will receive an equivalent share of this funding, with the same conditions for managing & distributing the funding.
Scotland has been short-changed by Westminster, & treated as an afterthought, far too many times”

“Stove Association is involved in consultation process on the Cleaner Air for Scotland Strategy, representing a serious conflict of interest. Tobacco companies wouldn’t be consulted on health policies, so why is the SA whose claims found to be misleading be guiding a public health strategy?”

Data show these assertions to be false.
Unpasteurised milk can be dangerous & cause serious infections.
Why do you think they do it in the 1st place?
Don’t drink unpasteurised milk.

So good to see.
Let’s hope the politicians listen.

Wouldn’t it be great if this were a ‘lightbulb moment’ for the UK about #GlobalWarming?
Sadly my bet is that it will be ‘business as usual’.
When will it be too late to act?

“Globally a record 582GW renewable energy added in 2024, there was almost no new #nuclear.”
Renewables fuel costs next to 0, nuclear fuel expensive.
Nuclear costs very high & ⬆️with long delays eg Sizewell £47b, Govt say may rise significantly
Nuclear means massive costs, & more radioactive pollution

“No citizens anywhere else in the world own so little of their own country. Scotland is a nation which has turned its own people into tenants.”

Data show >1,600 fossil fuel lobbyists have been granted access to the #Cop30 climate negotiations in Belém, significantly outnumbering every single country’s delegation apart from the host Brazil. This is a 12% rise on last year.
Soon they’ll outnumber the climate-concerned…

Things going well for #vaccines…..
Shingles & ⬇️dementia
Flu vaccine ⬇️Heart attacks by 30–45%, & Stroke by 20–25%
HepB vaccines → prevent multiple cancers
Pneumococcal vaccine → fewer heart attacks.

How could they?
@uklabourparty.bsky.social - betrayal of nature.
And they are removing heat pump subsidies.
And they are taxing EV miles.
What a huge, huge disappointment this Govt are!
Watching Labour MPs take a wrecking ball to nature makes me so angry & so sad. Their action tonight voting down amendments to the #PlanningBill intended to protect wildlife & habitats from destruction is so reckless & so counterproductive. People didn’t vote Labour for this 👇
Housing secretary tells Labour MPs to vote down planning bill amendment
Amendment restricts protection for animals to allow faster house building

A world this hot would trigger major “tipping points” eg collapse of Atlantic Ocean circulation, loss of coral reefs, & ice sheets, & conversion of Amazon rainforest to a savannah.
“That means the end of agriculture in UK/Europe, drought/monsoon failure in Asia & Africa, lethal heat & humidity”

Just a wee reminder
It’s 5-6o (feels like -1) in Scotland
It’s 15o in London
Yet our electricity costs much higher than in England.
Yet we produce 95% of renewables for the UK
Is this fair?
