Remember, back in the day, when the general consensus was strong enough to shame these guys/make them too fearful of being pilloried if they said guff like this in public. Let’s go back to that.
Reform UK’s Lee Anderson wants to bring back the ‘invalid carriage’.

The Invacar was banned from English roads in 2003 over safety fears after some overturned and others caught fire.

The bitterly ironic transformation of the iconography of the poppy, from sombre reminder of the senseless futility of a war in which the British ruling class systematically ordered the wholesale slaughter of millions of working-class men, to 'War Christmas', says everything about the current crisis
That's it. Peak remembrancy shop window has been located.

“Let’s call it for what it is: bullshit. The truth is, politicians have talked about little else but immigration for decades and in the most dehumanising ways.

Polanski added: “Stop the boats’ is all we hear. Well, today I'm saying ‘stop the bullshit’.”

UK faces ‘battle for the soul’ of the country, says Starmer amid Reform threat
In a rallying cry to progressives around the world, the Prime Minister said allies must stop the ‘politics of predatory grievance’.

Wouldn’t it be nice to have Reform and Farage called out like this in actual Britain, by say… the Prime Minister
Rep. Jamie Raskin tears into Nigel Farage as a "far-right pro-Putin politician" and a "Donald Trump sycophant and wannabe".

In the end, it's going to come down to whether you believe it's important that a song, or a poem, or novel, or whatever, was made by another human; whether you believe that's what art *is*, an expression of our shared humanity. If not, well, goodnight and good luck I guess.

Something about the two stories about ChatGPT's involvement in suicides/murder that came out this week that really stuck out to me: OpenAI basically has a boilerplate response when their product gets people killed.

fundamentally the problem is that if you think "hotels are where I stay on holiday and I like being on holiday so living in a hotel must be fun and it's not fair others get to do it and not me" then you have the intellectual reasoning of a little child and it's going to be hard to engage with you

I have not heard anything at all from government ministers nor the opposition nor many media outlets about the dangers of this epidemic of sweeping casual racism. It is sometimes seen as comical - as with Rupert Lowe and the rowers - but it is dangerous and dehumanising

Nothing like having access to limitless social media and getting a published newspaper article to decry your loss of free speech 🙃
John Boyne: This is all I have to say, and all I will ever say, on the outcry over being included in an LGBT+ book award longlist when I am a self-labelled TERF.

Also John Boyne: Here's a wallowing, self-congratulatory article I have written now that the Polari Prize has been called off.

Perhaps, one day, schoolkids will study this squalid little chapter in British terror-panic history. When they do, I hope these two headlines from today are printed side by side, with clear annotation of which individual faced more outrage and condemnation.

You’d think the spokesman might just have googled to see Sally Rooney is an Irish citizen, living in Ireland, and realised their law can do diddly squat to her before embarrassing themselves like this
Keir Starmer's spokesman asked about author Sally Rooney's plans to donate her royalties to Palestine Action, says that supporting the group is a terrorist offence and "obviously the police will implement the law"

I love to go to Chat GPT 5 with its alleged “PhD level expertise” and an ask it about my MA thesis work and see that it really cannot do that level of academic work whatever. It can do a SIMULACRUM of that work, which might fool you if you did not have any expertise.

Apparently “women-only spaces” now includes…M&S shopfloors. Any male workers, partners, dads etc are going to be compelled to leave lingerie departments too then, not just trans people? Right? 🙃
The employee asked the girl and her mother if they needed help shopping. That’s it. That’s all. The misinformation, the insinuations (because the facts are inconveniently benign) are EXACTLY what was done to lesbians in the 80s. This is the product of hate and fear, not reality.

If you're using AI to write essays, eulogies, a text to your wife, I do think less of you as a person. Ceding your mental and creative abilities to a machine is an embarrassing thing and people should be ashamed to admit doing it in public.
