I think this is correct.

Everyone involved in aviation KNOWS FOR SURE that reckless/ rampant changes of past six weeks will, *for sure,* make airplane crashes more likely.

But no airline exec wants to be the first to say this in public.
In boardrooms around the world, airline executives are discussing what will be more harmful to their share prices: sounding the alarm on this, or the inevitable plane crashes
Corrupt? Sure.

But also directly dangerous? And how!

FAA has done careful, long testing /study of new tower-communication system. Now a rush to switch to system that *just happens* to be owned by Mr. Efficiency himself, Elon. (Has he even been to an ATC facility? Probably like Vance re Ukraine)

"we need to take a step back and realize that the Republican Party has become an authoritarian political party," says Steve Levitsky, who would know.
With Trump declaring himself above the law and Musk calling for jailing journos, there's a big risk voters get acclimated to this kind of authoritarian talk and come to see it as normal. Another reason Dems must step up now.

My exchange w/Steve Levitsky on this:

I legit think the cynical promotion of this this is one of the most brazen acts of public evil I’ve ever seen because there is *no tradeoff* in any way that counts, there’s no complicated externality, it’s just fucking letting people, mainly children die for the hell of it.
Routine childhood vaccination rates have been declining precipitously in recent years.

The MMR vaccine is one of the most important. Today 14 states have an MMR vaccination rate for kindergartners of less than 90%. In 2019, just 3 did.

A big reason food spending is up is because people are eating out all. the. time. Which is fine, you live in a very wealthy society, and it’s a way to convert wealth into happiness. But what’s remarkable is how no one remembers that this is not the historical norm and is convinced they’re broke
I grew up in an upper middle class house with boomer parents and we went out to eat a few times a year. Too expensive! Like an actual restaurant where you sit down and stuff. People my generation do that multiple times a week including me.

Trump just nominated Brendan Carr to be in charge of the FCC.

Brendan Carr wrote the FCC chapter in Project 2025.

Project 2025 was always Trump’s plan. We were warned.

I have learned this in my career as a trial lawyer: If you want people to believe something, you need to say it directly, & you need to repeat it. There are ways to do that more or less effectively, but that much is elementary. Dems are going to make me lose my damn mind. They're not up to the task.
Sorry, @hakeemjeffries.bsky.social, Trump’s cabinet is not a distraction, and the public has a right to the Gaetz report even if Republicans on the Ethics Committee decide to be partisan, and cover up a child sex trafficking scandal.
No, Trump's Cabinet Is Not A "Distraction"

People sure have elaborate theories about the magic combination of economic factors as to why the metrics show a great economy but people think it sucks when it’s just… the media coverage. Absent that, it’s impossible to explain THIS:

Why wouldn’t EVERYONE want to see the ethics report on Matt Gaetz? If he did nothing wrong, it would exonerate him, no?

Anyone you see on your timeline right now praising RFK Jr. is a person you never need to take seriously on anything ever again.

It is difficult to overstate just how extreme, conspiratorial, and insane RFK’s views are, on vaccines, microchips & beyond. He’s Alex Jones in a suit.

Hi everyone.

The Onion, with the help of the Sandy Hook families, has purchased InfoWars.

We are planning on making it a very funny, very stupid website.

We have retained the services of some Onion and Clickhole Hall of Famers to pull this off.

I can't wait to show you what we have cooked up.
The Onion Buys Alex Jones’s Infowars Out of Bankruptcy
The satirical news site planned to turn Infowars into a parody of itself, mocking “weird internet personalities” who peddle conspiracy theories and health supplements.
