It's time to state clearly that if MAGA and Republicans can't condemn any part of this shooting, continue to blame the victim for it, and even hint that it's a just outcome that others "deserve," that's a crossing of the line that the rest of us won't ever be able to forget.
Rep. Randy Fine: "If you impede the actions of our law enforcement as they seek to repel foreign invaders from our country, you get what's coming to you. I do not feel bad for the woman that was involved."

Gotta say, Schumer is, himself, a fucking distraction. Time to get someone in there who can actually do the job of leading an opposition party.
Schumer: "It makes you think that maybe to Trump he wants to distract the American people, as he always does, from the skyrocketing costs they are facing, from the Epstein files."

“What’s your plan for the Court?” is the only question that matters for 2028 Democratic hopefuls, because if they don’t, the Republican Super Legislature is hatcheting their agenda before it can get off the ground.
#BREAKING: Over dissents from the three democratic appointees, #SCOTUS puts Texas's new House maps back into effect for (and, presumably, through) the 2026 midterms.

The three Democratic appointees, in an opinion by Justice Kagan, dissent.

I'll post the ruling shortly.

You probably saw videos of a nighttime raid in Chicago. Agents rappelling from a helicopter, bursting down doors, questioning brown-skinned immigrants.

We investigated -- and found little evidence to support the government’s claims about Tren de Aragua.

I've said it before, and I will say it again.

We need courageous leaders that put working families at the center of all they do.

8 democrats caving to empty promises is an indefensible leadership failure

For the sake of our country, Schumer needs to resign.

This deal to reopen the government is fucking disgraceful.

Tens of millions will lose their healthcare. Trump will be emboldened.

This is exactly what’s wrong with Democratic Party leadership and why we need more people in Congress who will actually hold the line.

The coordinated nature of this—none are facing voters in 2026—means that either Schumer approved it or failed in his job as Senate Majority Leader to stop it.

Dems voting "no" get zero credit until they demand a change in leadership. Schumer out as Leader, Durbin out as Whip.
so currently defectors are:

Shaheen (Retiring)
Hasan (2028)

The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.

The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.

People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.

And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

A bunch of them are retiring which makes their cowardice particularly pathetic.

Shameful legacy for Durbin, Peters, Hassan, who will not face accountability in a primary.
Anyone who votes yes on this should have a declared primary challenger tonight. They should be black stains in the Annals of the party forevermore. Disgusting cowardice

It is not meaningfully different from what they voted down 14 times.
Durbin is a YES on this deal: “At Democrats’ urging, today’s bill is not the same one we’ve voted down 14 times. Republicans finally woke up and realized their Groundhog Day needed to end. This bill is not perfect, but it takes important steps to reduce their shutdown’s hurt.”

Most of the power authoritarians have is freely given. We should not comply with them in advance.

Trump is far weaker than he looks. So is the GOP. We should draw them out, drain them at every opportunity, and fight for people’s wellbeing at every turn.

We have been sent here to fight for people.
AOC: I think there's two things that are happening at once: One, there absolutely is an unprecedented abuse of power, destruction of norms, erosion of our government and our democracy in order to prop up an authoritarian style of governance

However, they are weaker than they look…

Is that effective campaign messaging? I don’t know & I don’t care.

It’s true. It’s my job to discover and say things that are true. The radicalization of the American right is *the* political story of my lifetime and the public should know about it. Politicians can do what they like with that.
