A “child-proof internet”? Can’t wait until government agents start kicking in the doors on anyone suspected of doing sex work and dragging them away
Congress is attempting to fast track KOSA and more than a dozen bills that would restrict internet access, censor speech and increase surveillance under the guise of protecting children.

Committee hearings begin tomorrow.
Lawmakers to consider 19 bills for childproofing the internet
KOSA is back, along with more than a dozen other bills that will erode free speech and privacy in the name of protecting kids.

Really wanna stress the importance of paying for porn rn while you can still access it. Those of us creating it, we need every cent to help invest in the future — ie preparing to navigate future censorship

SWOP had its bank accounts closed by Chase — sound familiar? — and now the people who do the work can’t be paid.

We can’t get their bank account back, but we can get Phoenix, who spends so much of their life organizing mutual aid for others, able to meet bills this month.

A young rescued river otter is swimming free again!
Found orphaned along a roadside, she was brought to the Zoo for care before continuing her recovery at Center Valley Animal Rescue with other two male rescued otters. Last week, all three were released back into the wild!

Bsky's new TOS cracks down on adult content and goes into effect on Oct 15 🚫

We want better content labels, NOT censorship. Use the feedback form to demand change

They've forgotten the only reason bsky exists is because nsfw artists, sex workers, & the trans community left twitter

Political violence disproportionately hurts people with less power, not people with more power. Political violence will disproportionately hurt people of color and women and LGBTQ people. It’s not fair, but that’s the way it works. Celebrating political violence means at best indifference to that.
Political violence is bad. It usually begets more political violence.

Celebrating political violence is bad. It usually encourages more political violence, against various targets.

Campus shootings are bad. They make everyone on campus less safe.

It's bad that what I wrote here is controversial.

A good friend of mine makes VERY good beer over in WA.

Rhys is collaborating with MSF/doctors without borders to raise funds for their humanitarian efforts overseas.

It would mean a lot to us if you checked out his cause, donated, or even bought some beer.

Thank you so much ❤️

The same Texas judge who tried to ban abortion pills thinks hotels that don't intervene when they see a woman with "sexually explicit clothing" and condoms in her room can be legally liable for sex trafficking reason.com/2025/08/11/h...
Hotel sex trafficking suit can proceed, inviting hotels to profile and harass guests
Can a hotel be guilty of sex trafficking just because it didn't surveil its customers enough?

Crucially, it seems like if you THINK you’re really smart, you’re easier to scam -

which explains a lot about why so many high-faluting devs, engineers, and doctors, who have been praised for their intellect their entire lives, have become such productive marks for tech scams in crypto and AI.
The "likelihood of being scammed vs measured intelligence" graph with the bimodal distribution showing that stupid people AND smart people get scammed at higher rates than average people lives rent-free in my head

Sex workers were banging the drum about the first amendment well before the last election. Hate to say it told you so, but…
A government-sanctioned "truth arbiter" will soon arrive at CBS. Their role will be to ensure that journalists do not criticize this Administration or express views that conflict with its agenda.

This is a betrayal—not just of journalistic independence, but of the public trust. 🧵

I thought I was pretty good at self-loathing but apparently I need to get on Gemini's level.
Google Gemini doesn’t appear to be doing too well:

‘"I am a disgrace to this planet. I am a disgrace to this universe. I am a disgrace to all universes . . . I am a disgrace to all possible and impossible universes and all that is not a universe," the bot continued.’
Google says it's working on a fix for Gemini's self-loathing 'I am a failure' comments
Google Gemini users said the bot is sharing self-loathing messages while attempting to solve tasks, including "I am a disgrace to this universe."

“banning pornography” is bad on its own but it is imperative that everyone understand that these people consider the very existence of queer people to be pornographic

they consider the most chaste depiction of a queer relationship, or an openly trans person, to be porn and they want it banned
You don’t have to like, approve of, or engage with porn and nsfw work to see how right wing extremists are using fear and stigma around smut to ban queer people from public life, define “good” sex as only between married people for procreation, and otherwise further force white supremacy on everyone
