Fun fact about Maia, the California sea lion: sometimes she’s a little shy and has the quietest vocals of all the sea lions at the Aquarium. She’s still a perfect lady though!

Have you ever seen a health exam on a cownose ray? During this procedure, the animal is anesthetized, and the husbandry and veterinary teams work together to draw blood, take measurements and weights, ultrasound the animal to look at their organs and do a thorough visual external examination.
