I have to hand it to them, it's an incredible bit to publicly lose a game of chicken, admit that's what happened, and then spend the next day lecturing everyone about courage and tenacity

but he also had one thing no other politician has

aloof wife
Yes!

And I think he did great work with media but honestly nothing had me saying "oh wow communicator of a generation."

No. He's likeable, he's decent, his policies are popular, he has a campaign work ethic.

Maybe most importantly: he obviously had competent staff and obviously listened to them.
The thing about Mamdani is that he’s a talented politician but not otherworldly or one in a billion, he’s just a competent guy with popular ideas who ran against an entitled piece of shit and to me it’s a lot more optimistic to imagine 1000 campaigns like his than to view him as a unique phenomenon

It’s wild to suggest this is a circular firing squad or something when it’s millions of citizen Democrats who hate it versus 47 elected Democrats who conspired to surrender for nothing.

We’re not fighting “each other,” we’re fighting you. There’s only a few dozen of you, but you hold all the power.
But there are real dangers out there that must be fought; and energy spent fighting each other is energy lost to that bigger fight.

In the century leading up to 1975, nearly 6000 freighters went down in the Great Lakes.

The Edmund Fitzgerald was the last.

The last. In 50 years, not a single commercial freighter has been lost in the Great Lakes.

Why?

It's NOAA. Of course it's NOAA.

Indivisible has leveled up. "no, no this party is fucking divisible all right -- and we're going to do the dividing"
If you’ve got a Senate Democrat who is not calling for new leadership, they’re part of the problem.

We should no longer trust Senate Dems who decline to come out against the leadership that led us here. Until proven otherwise, we should assume they were in on the game to fool their own supporters.

Honestly, fine. I'm sure it will kind of suck and I know Alan Moore has already come to terms with this stuff, but fine! Make a movie about how the homophobic fascist government deserves to get blown up!

A weird thing about Sydney Sweeney not giving a full-throated repudiation of the white supremacists that are horny for her -- I don't know her politics, maybe it's just about not alienating a potential audience or something -- is that she really seems to be interested in being an actress,

Oh okay but at least they did guarantee that they'll do another vote on extending the ACA funds for 1 year 40 days from now.
UPDATE: The Senate votes 53-47 to shoot down the Baldwin amendment to extend ACA funds for 1 year. A party-line vote with every Republican rejecting it.
An important vote in this series: Tammy Baldwin’s proposal to extend ACA expiring funds for 1 year. It’s structured as a motion to table (i.e. scrap it from the amendment tree). But it’ll show the appetite (or lack thereof) in the Senate to address this issue.

Just tried to get a prescription over the weekend and CVS didn't have it, and also didn't tell me that they didn't have it, they just didn't fill it. Also they have no way to find out if another CVS has it.
CVS is best thought of as a kind of interactive museum exhibit where you can experience everything that has gone badly wrong with American capitalism.
You almost have to respect how CVS keeps frantically changing their systems like every other month and each time it gets progressively worse

I can’t believe someone just argued with me about the importance of pasta.

No American pasta isn’t just as good as Italian and no it’s not no big deal that the president once again is going after the food supply chain and removing more choices from US shelves.

I almost took my earrings off.

After yesterday’s surrender, we’re launching the largest Democratic primary program that we’ve ever run.

We will not back any Senate primary candidate unless they call for Schumer to step down as Minority Leader.

If you’re as pissed as we are, join this campaign to rebuild the Democratic Party. 👇
Democratic leaders have failed us again. It's time to get new leaders.
After yet another capitulation by Chuck Schumer and Senate Democrats, it's clear we need new leadership capable of mounting a serious opposition to Trump's authoritarian regime. We're launching our la...

The most "technically true" headline in history.

It misleads with a headline that any person reading on Nov. 10 would assume means he was fighting to extend the shutdown beyond Sunday.

But if you actually read the article, it very specifically says he didn't want anyone to fold "before November."

This article is probably true. It doesn't say he privately fought to extend the government shutdown beyond Sunday.

"...he was privately cajoling a group of moderates not to fold before November."

That's in line with reporting that said Dems wanted to get to election day, Nov. 4, before folding.
