Ah, i read the original but I didn't remember that. But really, who could have known that not only does the government not fake a plague that everyone believes is real, but the actual problem would be a real plague everyone thinks is fake.

I guess also a mistake to have John Hurt, who brings a level of gravitas to the fascist leader which it turns out never happens, these guys are all always tacky dipshits.

The only things it really got wrong were "the government faked a pandemic to gain power" (big miss on that one), and "cops are kind of the good guys".

Honestly feel like V for Vendetta would hit a lot harder these days than it did in 2005, like it was pretty daring at the time to say "What if the terrorist...was a hero?" but I don't know how many of us really thought that things would get *worse* on so many fronts
