To me this argument is a difficult sell, on the grounds that there simply have never been any alternative histories that could be used to verify this.

look, I dunno, don't understand this; is there no editorial responsibility at all for this part of the media process? If you make a headline and a slug and an image and you send them out there, and it *very clearly and obviously suggests one thing* but then the article says something else,
