It’s amazing how many people argue over a push poll here.

Like this is fundamentally dishonest shit.
Graham Platner is leading Gov. Janet Mills by 20 points in the Maine Senate Democratic primary, per a new poll.

That might surprise pundits in DC, but it captures the vibe in Maine, where you might think he was the only candidate running. @zeteo.com

Oysterman Graham Platner Is Leading the Maine Senate Primary by 20 Points: New Poll
The populist candidate isn’t just weathering scandals – he has a massive lead in the state's Dem primary, according to a new poll.

Last time I renewed my drivers license I had to decide between Real ID and not. I was baffled why they offered a non-Real ID, and they couldn’t explain it either.
I am sorry the Real ID Act passed in 2005!!

Once again, leftists are totally fine with imperialism. They just care more about who is doing it.

Apparently the self determination of the people who live on the actual island doesn’t matter to them. Funny how that works.
Those are argentinian islands. And at least Galtieri went to prison for the crimes he commited.
Thatcher launched an unjustified war after the islands we're taken without causing fatal deaths on british. Wich caused death of more than 200 british soldiers.

Most people don’t want to hear that their parents and nice old neighbors are a major source of the housing problem, so they feel the need to make something up instead.
Houses are too expensive for most homebuyers, but prices aren’t coming down because homeowners don’t want to sell at the price they bought at; they want to make money off of it. Private investment, which makes up a tiny amount of SFH owners, is a result of this situation, not a cause.
Remove the ability for private investment to own residential homes and the problem will be solved.

The idea that women can’t be misogynist is very silly.
A man telling a woman she's misogynist actually is classic lmao
A misogynistic leftist?? On *my* bluesky????

The nice thing about a bike is that you can pay it off in cash, even e-bikes.
one of the least sympathetic microgenres of post is, "I financed an extremely expensive truck at fairly normal APRs and am paying HOW MUCH in interest?!"

my uncle is broke as shit in his 60s in large part from making this exact sort of decision multiple times

I look forward to what self destructive response the British government has once they realize it.
The government figuring this out slowly over the coming two years is going to be quite something to behold.
I think the government meant to cut net migration but have accidentally overshot the target by a lot. They haven’t realised this yet.

The idea that the federal government is ripe with waste fraud and abuse is a huge right wing belief that generally leads to cutting the welfare state.

If you think democrats should copy that, either you’re acting in bad faith, or you’re an idiot.
DOGE is one of the greatest failures of the Trump administration. The next Democratic administration should pick up that issue and actually work to cut government waste, fraud, and abuse. I’d suggest starting by taking a look at Elon Musk’s government contracts.

“They couldn’t be selling illegal land, they’re a non-profit” is gonna stick with me for a while.

Do … do people think non-profits can’t sell land?

The skeleton key for tankies is realizing that they love the aesthetics of imperialism, they just care more about who is doing the violence than anything else.

What a good day to be completely incapable of imagining something visually. Aphantasia is a real gift when learning things about RFK jr. against my will.

Do you think AOC has free will, or is just “the dems” who get to decide here?

Why is a state an independent unit whose representation we should even care about?
But that's why there's a House. Small states can't lose their equal representation and they shouldn't.

Complete tangent, but you would not *believe* how the Danes pronounce “Yggdrasil”

The NYT thinks you’re dumb.
What if the A.I. bubble “is an inevitable part of developing and adopting a revolutionary tool that will fundamentally improve productivity and growth?” Mohamed El-Erian writes.
Opinion | A.I. Is a Bubble. Maybe That’s OK.
Investors’ excitement rightly reflects the potential transformation of the entire economy.

“We’re pro immigrant as long as we can out breed Muslims” is raising a lot of questions already raised by my t shirt.
Obviously, we want more immigrants, it’s one of our founding principals, but we also don’t want things to happen that will set support for more immigration back in the long term

All that said, Twitter only allows editing in the 1st hour, so not easily done.

Polish re-armament intensifies.
“If I had to describe the movement that my husband Alexei Navalny created in just a few words, I’d say this: We are a pro-European movement,” Yulia Navalnaya, Russian opposition leader and economist writes in an op-ed.

“We believe Russia is an inseparable part of European civilization.”
What the Russian opposition wants
We aren’t asking for anything extravagant: We simply want Russia to be a normal country that cares about the dignity, rights and future of its people — just as European countries do.

Hey, remember how I said that journalists constant sneering condescension towards the people who actually pay to read newspapers is going to kill your profession?

I’m bringing it up again for no particular reason.

This week on the blog: Hoplites! We're taking a crack at explaining the long-running debate over the nature and significance of the ancient Greek heavy infantryman, the hoplite, and the phalanx in which he (mostly) fought.

This week (and next) we’re looking at hoplites, the heavy infantry of the ancient Greek poleis in the (early? mid? late?) Archaic and Classical periods, into the Hellenistic. In particular, I…
