Just a note that the US passed landmark civil rights legislation enforcing the rights of disabled students to reasonable accommodation. This is a form of segregation. And segregationists like this also tend to believe in other forms of segregation.
A lot of education discourse is at root an inability to decide whether the purpose of our education system is to 1) teach material and measure learning 2) reward students who work hard 3) separate the smart kids (destined for smart guy jobs) from the dumb kids (destined to serve the smart guys)

That's not something you've won in negotiations. That's just the letter of the law. You don't get to claim that as a win.

Recently had a similar discussion with a friend who uses ChatGPT to create all her professional emails and letters. I don’t need that, I don’t have any trouble creating these things on my own, I can do anything it does in my head just as easily. It’s just not a useful tool for me.
Recently met someone who was very surprised to hear I didn’t use ChatGPT or any LLM.
I said my job depended on doing distinctive work. That was my selling point. If I started to sound like ChatGPT and turn out what it did, then how on earth could I justify doing it? What would that make me?
