collective memory is something you have to work at constantly, and the persistent drumbeat of land acknowledgements is an extremely valuable way to produce widespread consciousness of basic material fact of dispossession and genocide
my wokest opinion is that land acknowledgements are fine. people knowing a little bit about the land you're on, even if one isn't invested in a land back project, is not particularly worse than the status quo, even if one comes by this info in a way that is somewhat cringe and forced
"my least woke opinion is---"

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.

This is the big takeaway, IMO.
I think it means Dem politicians and their consultants are projecting their own racial resentment onto the rest of us. It's why they only chase rural conservative votes. It's why they're foisting Nazi tattoo guy on us as Mr. Anti-Establishment.

The goal of Centrism is two parties of Republicans.

Let’s be clear: This has NOTHING to do with the shutdown. SNAP already has strict renewal rules and almost NO fraud.

Forcing millions to reapply is a deliberate effort to shrink the program and leave families hungry.

It’s bullshit. It’s cruel. And it’s indefensible.

i know we won't, but we have got to understand that a keystone of the republican project is to both categorize whole classes of people as criminal to justify locking them up, or to make them so broken and desperate that lawbreaking is all but certain to happen.

So is anyone ever going to ask these people what is wrong with being Palestinian? bsky.app/profile/atru...
After calling Schumer a "Palestinian," Leavitt refers to "Gavin Newscum." So she's just ripping off her boss's smears now.

When is the last time you had a Black guest on your show?
Ok so clearly some folks here are upset that I interviewed Graham Platner.

I think it’s important to explain what the Find Out Podcast is, and how we were born.

In short - our goal is to move men to the left. In order to do that - we have to welcome folks who have changed over time.

This quote might as well have come from Bernie Sanders.
Speaking at a Texas Tribune Festival on Friday, former U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg criticized the Democratic Party for failing to reach everyday Americans, arguing that it “got sucked in” to a conversation about identity. #TribFest25

1) If you just keep asking White guys about this, these are the answers you will keep getting. 2) Notice how he juxtaposes people who might be concerned with "identity" (i.e. POC, Women, LGBTQ+ folks, immigrants) with "everyday Americans". It's all about the social construction of the citizenry

JD Vance owns a company that buys American real estate and sells it to foreign investors. They specifically target Americans in crisis to buy their property for less than it is worth.
JD Vance: "A lot of young people are saying housing is way too expensive. Why is that? Because we flooded the country with 30 million illegal immigrants who were taking houses that ought by right go to American citizens."

Maligning basic, safe OTC medications that most people have to resort to, like acetaminophen and ibuprofen, is part of a larger scam to blame people for their health problems (or their children's health needs or problems), so that the administration can claim people don't deserve care or support.
JD Vance calls ibuprofen "useless medication" and implies it's not "necessary, safe and effective."

Yes. It's why they don't want to hear about the social construction of gender at all. Because if it's socially constructed...
More than anything else, powerful men - like the ones who run the NYT - believe in the legitimacy of power itself. Because if it isn’t legitimate, they have to start asking hard questions about the world and themselves.

This is a newspaper that published numerous stories about a 17 year old from Uganda checking a box on a college form that said “African American”
The emails that you’re seeing now are news in themselves, but that’s because of how they’re coming out—a congressional committee released them—& the context in which they’re being viewed. A guy emailing a reporter talking about old girlfriends or saying someone is “dirty” is not a whole news story.

Kind of minor but telling that he perceives the frontrunners as 4 white guys!
Schumer reached out to leading presidential contenders to try and mute criticism of the deal, calling Josh Shapiro, Andy Beshear, JB Pritzker, and Gavin Newsom.

While Schumer voted against it, the eight Dems behind the shutdown deal said the minority leader was aware of their plan. trib.al/lcNlGik
